    • This is not designed for home use - this is a FULL SIZE stage light

I have a small music venue on my property (it seats 60 - which probably isn't small for being at my house, but relatively speaking it isn't like an arena or anything.) I have a ton of DMX fixtures, and most of them seem to fit the scale nicely. When I ordered this, I did not really pay attention to the dimensions. When it arrived I thought maybe a mistake was made and I was sent a small refrigerator. Nope, it was correct. It is the biggest stage light I have ever seen up close. It is a MONSTER. Frankly, way too big for my space but it is so impressive I have found a way to use it as a spot light. If you are looking for party lights or something in a small room, just move along - this is designed for a venue. This does everything. Full 360 degrees in almost every direction (except when it is pointing into the base). AMAZINGLY bright with not just dimming control but a feature called "Frost" that instead of cutting through the stage fog, it lights it up. Prism controls at every speed, multiple gobos, and every version of strobe/fade/spin you can think of...this thing is completely awesome. I run it in DMX mode, so I have no critique if you ran it with presets/manual. The one thing that I do not love is that the color is created with an internal filter. This does give an insane beam, but it takes away the ability to color fade. This isn't really a big deal because the filter has virtually any color you would want, and you get a TRUE white that on RGB LEDs is not possible, but for subtle color-fading this won't be your ideal. The price on this is interesting. I feel for a venue stage light the price is a GREAT deal, but for something less pro it is REALLY expensive as you won't get out of it everything they intend. ... show more

I didn’t realize when's i ordered this months ago that a DMX board was necessary to utilize the light features of this no BS system. I finally got my first DMX board and used for a friend’s party at a 300 person rental hall. It worked great just sitting on top of a large speaker as it’s base. I was able to add the other light systems to have them all coordinate together. It was my first time using so i kept it pretty basic as far as the effects but just from messing around with it a little saw the potential of endless capabilities. I’m gigging musician with a band so look forward to more opportunities to use these lights and try all their different effects. Did i overbuy with this unit? Yes of course i did as this is designed to handle a STADIUM. But that also means it will be able to Handle any venue or effects i want it to. So yes, a big investment but now my lights effects are covered, forever. Overall: recommend for the hardcore light effect enthusiast ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Before you read the rest of this review, know that I am an amateur that generally runs lights for friends and family's parties. I included a photo of the last party I ran lights for, and this light is not featured there. I am not involved in commercial music or stage presentations which is what this light was designed for. That said, here is my review of this amazing stage light. Though this can run in auto or sound mode, neither is very good. This absolutely needs a DMX512 if you want to use this effectively. I have a dozen spots from 60 to 150W that run just fine in auto or sound, but those two functions are clumsy at best with this unit. Using the 16 channel DMX is the only way to run this light. The screen and rotating push button wheel are terrific for setting up any function quickly. With full control through the DMX, this light is amazing. The brightness is beyond anything I am used to, and the response is perfect through all channels. For the video I have the speed reduced with the GOBO and color light wheels slowed to give you a visual of all that this light offers. Truly an amazing display that would be at home on any stage. I included four looks of this light next to a 60W spot so you can appreciate the size and quality of this light. The one thing I did not care for was the printed manual. The print was entirely too small/low quality, and the DMX map was spread across two pages. Once you know each function you don't need the manual, but trying to run this out of the box with these sparse directions was a pain. When I ordered this, I did not look at dimensions, just thought "Hey 230W, that'll be bright!". When it arrived, the box was huge and I thought maybe I was sent a pair of lights. Low and behold, nope, just one big amazing light. Auto effects aren't anything special that your normal much smaller DIY DJ lights, but with a DMX controller, this is amazing. Quick reaction and movement, equivalent of a shutter control for dimmer. Some amazing effects with the GOBO and prism. Oh and did I mention bright - 230W bright, able to light up the front yard just with the reflection from a brick wall. As others have warned, do not put yourself closely in front of this light, you will feel the heat from the beam. With that said, the internal cooling for this unit is great as well. Unlike other lights I have over 100w, this one manages to stay pretty cool. I think for the home party, this is too much to handle, but for larger areas this would be perfect. If you manage to acquire water proof housing, this would be a great outdoor additional to a controlled lighting display. ... show more
