Pros: *Compact. Easier to store than a traditional bucket wine chiller. *Has a complete selection of pieces including 2 chiller rods (different sizes), a foil cutter, aerating pourer, vacuum pump stopper and mini stopper for the aerator pourer. * The aerator definitely improved the taste of the wine I had. *This is a great collection to get started in the world of wine. Cons: * No instructions. I thought it would be pretty straightforward but to my surprise it wasn't. I inserted the longer rod in a freshly opened bottle of red. The wine came gushing out the top because the rod takes up more capacity in the bottle than the air pocket at the top. So after pouring the first glass to make room for the rod I then noticed the rod was hitting the bottom of the bottle before it was fully submerged. The longer rod that I was using hitting the punt (the indented bottom of the bottle). I then realized I should have used the shorter rod to avoid the punt. *The plastic aerator pourer doesn't screw into the metal rod very easily. *The rods can't hold the chill for very long based on their size. This is a useful, space-saving set with all the basic necessities. ... show more

I wouldn’t call this a chiller. If your wine isn’t already chilled, the cooler sticks won’t chill it. It will help keep it cool once opened, but it’s not going to get it to a cool temperature on it’s own. The aerator is nice and works great, as does the foil cutter. Be certain to read the instructions on pouring out some wine before inserting the sticks or you will have a giant mess. This is a great set. First, there are two chilling sticks in two lengths, one of them being appropriate for dessert wines or liquors / liqueurs. The pour spout can be attached to either. This is a great feature. There is also a plug to seal the pour spout, a separate sealer with a vacuum pump within it to easily close up your bottle for use later, and a foil cutter to assist with opening. And it’s nicely boxed. In the room for improvement category, the pour spout connection to the chilling stick is a little rough, and the stem is narrow. It has worked so far, but to address wider-mouthed bottles would make it far more flexible and more widely useful for cooling beverages not in a narrow-mouthed wine bottle. ... show more

I'm very impressed with this Stainless Steel Wine Cooling Stick Set. The presentation is nice so it is definitely worthy for gift giving to your favorite white wine lover. I've used SS wine cooling sticks in the past with good results as I did this time. I've never been sure that an aerator pourer actually effects the taste for me. It's possible my palate simply isn't that refined, but I like the idea of using the aerator. The stopper and foil cutter complete this set. If you want to keep your wine chilled, better to use an ice bucket. That would be more effective and more elegant. Did it keep the wine chilled for longer? Not appreciably. Again – better to use an ice bucket. Another drawback: Didn’t come with directions. Another drawback: Difficult to screw the cap on the rod – plastic threads did not fit well.
