I fish my own Santee rigs sometimes because I fish a rocky lake and my bait sometimes falls down between rocks where it is hard for the fish to find or reach. But my rigs are basic. I saw these and thought I would like to try some with rattles (bells and whistles so to speak). I am writing this based on their appearance. To write about whether they catch fish or not would not be valid because I have never NOT caught catfish at my spot...on any rig or bait handy. Rarely catch less than 20 in an outing. But if I run into an issue once I fish them I will come back and edit. I love the way these things are constructed. They did not scrimp, as you can see from the pics in the listing. They came with substantial swivels and hooks. The line is solid. And as shown in the pics, which are accurate representations, there are two types of rattles which rattle under different circumstances, and each item is separated by plastic beads and bobber stoppers to keep it all in place. The bobber is easily adjustable. It is just a very nice rig. The only thing I would mention, and it is not really a con, but only a comment. They come with larger hooks than I normally use, even for large cats. Some will like that, and others, like me, may want to swap them out for a slightly smaller hook. But what they come with are sharp and strong. Seems to be a great item that I get to try without buying all the 'bells and whistles' to make my own. ... show more

I think we have a little learning to do. These seem to be a decent quality. We haven't caught any cats with these but I think we need to do a little more research on exactly how to use them.

Caught one so far but a small one. We have been using the catfish bait pressed on a plain hook up to this point and no luck. Probably not deep enough. These rigs have the weight to them and you can adjust the depth by moving the bobber. We used this over the weekend and caught a small catfish, so was it the rig or just lucky still using the bait. Used to catch catfish all the time as a kid with just a worm and a weight. We'll keep giving this a chance to see if it will stir up the big ones. If so I will post a pic with it still on the rig. Overall it is made well and stout enough to handle a large fish. Very stout hook, should handle whatever latches on to it. ... show more

Comes with big circle hooks perfect for chunked or live shad. The beads glow in the dark but nothing else does. Very vibrant and easy to see though. You need a decent weight, 4-6 oz depending on how deep you go, to hold this down to the bottom of where you fish. Just put the weight on your line before you tie this on as a leader. The catfish rig is nearly ready for deployment. Its user-friendly design requires minimal assembly. I simply attached a slip sinker and live bait to the hook, and I was promptly engaged in the fishing activity. While I have yet to capture any exceptionally large specimens, the Potomac River is renowned for its abundance of such creatures, so it is merely a matter of time. The assembly of the terminal tackle is good. The leads are all very short. I tried them a few times, but bites yet. To be far, nothing was biting the nights we tried. The hooks are large circle hooks and should land you a monster.

These are brightly colored rattles and spinner rattles on a heavy guage leader line with a very sharp circle hook at the end. I can't wait to use these with planner boards on the river. First, I will admit I have not used these yet. I saw them on Amazon and found them to be unique. I typically fish for catfish in the fall and winter, not the heat of summer. I will wait and try them in a couple of months from now. I will say they are well made, the line and hardware is all topnotch. I think I will put a smaller hook on it for the catfish I go for, but in some lakes and rivers, this hook might be perfect. Time will tell if this system works for me. ... show more
