Growing up on a farm I have used the higher end, couple hundred-dollar ones. But on my little place, even my small, diesel, John Deere is almost too much to justify that cost. Which is why I jumped at the chance to test this one. It worked like a charm and good flow. Will save my back lifting the 5 gallon cans to the top of my tractor...then spilling a bunch to get the nozzle to line up before flow starts. Only caveat is I had planned to keep my "ready" diesel in a blue poly, 55 gal barrel rated for oil. The poly barrel port must be slightly bigger than my steal ones since the "plug" on the pump will not screw in... but does seat well enough to work. Thus, I would recommend using a steel 55 gal barrel rated for fuel for long term storage in a barrel. I would recommend this to anyone needing a lower cost alternative to the more expensive versions. ... show more

I have been using this to pump bar oil out of 5-gallon buckets into quart bottles. This works great for that and is much easier than laying the bucket on its side and rolling it slowly to pour the oil into the bottles. Pretty happy with it so far.

First thing I noticed is that the main housing appears to be some type of cast plastic. But it does seem to be decent quality. This is nothing like my father-in-laws older pumps that are solid metal though.

Really easy to assemble. I used this pump to empty a 30G drum of used motor oil, with a few Gallons of water at the bottom. It's primes itself fast. It started to get harder to crank as it was pumping the water as the initial lubrication from the factory wore off the inner pump body, buy as soon as it hit oil is cranked easy. I am going to flush this with a bit of diesel and move it to my 30G kerosene drum for the winter. It's an easy to assemble, light weight, easy to prime pump with good flow. Nothing wrong with this pump. It's sort of a standard, run of the mill hand cranked drum pump. Good for all sorts of drum sizes, as listed. I tried it on my 30 gal and it was fine. Seems to move fluids at a reasonable rate. To speed things up, use a drill or crank faster! The components are pretty light. It's cast aluminum alloy so I didn't expect a lot of weight. Some of the tube components feel thin, sort of cheap, but still function as intended so no big deal. There is a screen built in to the bottom tube, which I appreciate. The pump connects and secures via a standard 2 inch collar. This fit both my plastic drums and my aluminum diesel transfer tank. All in all, fine and fair hand crank drum pump. 55 Gallon Drum Pump, Barrel Pump for engine oil, diesel fuel, gasoline, kerosene, Hand Pump for 55 Gallon Drum, 50, 5, 15, 30 gal Drum (Red) The barrel pump comes in a light duty recyclable cardboard box. Inside that, the pieces of the pump are padded well in a piece of Styrofoam. (Unfortunately not recyclable in my area.) Inside the styrofoam, there are three links of pickup (so you can combine them for whatever depth barrel you're using) pump apparatus, a handle with a red crank, and a small pot metal cylinder adapter for your barrel’s bung. The output tube for the pump motor has a little bump out ridge so that you could put a hose on it if needed. Inside one of the aluminum pickup tubes is an expandable plastic tube for the output. There is also a single page printout for instructions. The instructions give simple information about the pump, including well photographed step-by-step pictures to show you how to assemble the pump. The instructions also note that this pump should not be used for water and chemical solvents. The aluminum alloy material will oxidize with long contact with water, which could cause the pump core motor to get stuck. They also go on to say, in bright red letters, then if you do have to use this to pump water, some engine oil must be injected into the pump core after use. Either way, they don't recommend that you use this with water. They do go on to note, that if the new pump gets stuck and won't rotate it's possible that it has become dry after being left unused for a long time in shipping or storage. If this becomes the case, they recommend injecting some engine oil into the pump core and then turn the handle. All in all, this is a fairly easy to assemble and use pump. As long as you heed to the cautions in the instruction page, you should be fine with using this unit for a long time. ... show more
