  • Everything seems ok.
If you want some good advice, do away with the MDS system in your Hemi altogether. That having been said, if you insist on going back to OEM specs and putting the MDS gear back in (why you'd ever do this if you're replacing the top end is a mystery, but to each their own), this is a good kit with those...just delightful...MDS lifters as part of it. All the parts look ok upon visual inspection, of course the real test is going to be time. Word of advice on this system. Typically failure occurs when particulates clog the solenoids (there are 4 of them around the camshaft) and they aren't replaced, which nukes a lifter. Make sure you take the bottom end apart and clean everything until its spotless. 500 miles on the break-in oil after putting this in, drain the oil and INSPECT FOR METALLIC PARTICULATES. If the engine has significant miles on it, consider going 1 step up in oil weight to restore oil pressure lost from wear on the mains. The MDS lifters run on oil pressure. So key to this system is 1: RELIGIOUSLY CLEAN OIL (2,000 mile oil changes on petroleum, 5,000 mile oil change full synthetic) and 2: GOOD OIL PRESSURE. Also, make sure you change out the MDS solenoids if necessary...and maybe even if it isn't. If you have ticking lifters, this is a possible sign the wear in the rest of the engine has caused a drop in oil pressure. There are no guarantees, but if you get noisy lifters try going 1 step up in oil viscosity and see if it improves. Otherwise, it may be a burden of non-OEM parts. If anything nukes out I'll update. ... show more
