After upgrading to an Xbox Series S which lacks optical out, I had to wire optical out from the tv to my soundbar, the latter doesn’t have HDMI ARC. This created a noticeable delay in audio - or terrible in games and animated video but in tv shows and movies where lips were viable during speech. Plugging this device in was a piece of cake and instantly solved the problem when no variation of settings on the Xbox or TV could do so. Man this product is amazing! Long story short I just recently updated my soundbar. Along with that also my Gaming monitor. Sadly the monitor does have any sound output besides the headphone jack and the soundbar doesn't have and AUX in plugin. But man this save me a ton work. Everything works perfect on this. the PS5 sound comes in perfect and the picture stays the same. I'm going to say that will also work with the next gen xbox also if you decide to go that route also. ... show more

Purchased with the intent of pairing a Streaming Stick+ from Roku with an older TV which somehow doesn't feature ANY audio output/pass-throughs. Taking the HDMI signal spit out by the Roku and injecting it into the HDA-912 results in a picture being sent on through to the display as well as a usable audio output to which my stereo is happily connected via analog. Note: if provided by the source, audio IS still sent through the HDMI output of the HDA-912 - think of the device as a means of adding connectivity rather than *splitting* the audio and video signals Pros: >Sturdy metal enclosure >Provides audio connectivity otherwise not available for displays lacking audio outputs Cons: >Audio is "extracted" from the input HDMI signal yet remains present in the output HDMI signal with no apparent way to disable >Included SMPS adapter goes straight from mains to barrel jack - since it's only 5V @ 1A, a USB Type-B power input (+ Type-A to Type-B cable and associated brick) would be prove far more versatile ... show more

I'm only using this for HD video, nothing 4K in my system, but it works flawlessly. It's odd that they included a wall wart power supply, when a standard USB power cable (USB 2.0 Type A Male to DC 5.5 x 2.1mm DC 5V Power Barrel Plug Connector) works just fine, and frees up an electrical outlet. I already have a multi-outlet USB charger plugged in, ready to go. ... show more

    • Doesn’t work.
Hooked it up according to the directions and I get neither video out of this thing nor sound. I got this to hook up a sound bar using optical audio to my Xbox series x and the only signs of life I see from this black box is the link light for HDMI out and HDMI in.

Just outside the warranty period and this unit is no longer working. I have other OREI products, and they work well for what I need. However, this one doesn’t seem to hold up as well as the others. It started with my TV no longer getting a signal, then it would come back intermittently, which is absolutely unusable. At first, I thought it was the cables, but after pulling this out of the lineup, everything worked again (well, except the audio, of course). Sadly, it works well but it doesn’t seem to last, as seen in other reviews. I hold out zero hope since it failed so close to the warranty period. Your mileage may vary, but expect about a year, if not less. ... show more

I had been looking high and low for an HDMI audio extractor that worked with my Astro A40 Mixamp Pro and had the capability of 1440p and 120hz. FINALLY this ONE DID IT!!! And it was not that expensive! Highly recommended!!! A+++
