have been using this 6.5 hp engine on my 14' Jon boat all summer and I get up to 10mph with 2 adult males and gear. My only issue with the unit is that the shift linkage frequently pops off causing me to have to run engine without the hood so I can make the repairs quickly. My issue with the company is that they offer no replacement parts on their web site and haven't replied to my email. I just wanted an extra shift linkage and a propeller in case I hit a rock or debris I can fix while on the water and not have to paddle back to the nearest ramp or dock. ... show more

for the money a good product, the buying experience is bit hair raising. When I took delivery water used for cooling was not circulating, not good. Had to remove a blockage to the system with compressed air. Also noticed it had a NGK spark plug installed which I understand from previous posts is not supposed to be stock. Also had an ounce or so of gear oil in the drive when they say it's dry when shipped. All this leads me to believe that the unit I received had perhaps been previously delivered and returned because of the clogged coolant line. Guess I'll never know for sure. Contacted the seller , communication in English was difficult.. was told to change the impeller (which it comes with a spare) but Thankfully did not have to do that. If you can get past that drama, it so far starts easily every time and performs well. The parts quality seems good, just don't understand how a coolant line can leave the plant clogged. So a 6.5 HP motor at a very reasonable cost..question is, Are you feeling lucky? ... show more
