  • Our Favorite Incubator for DIY Poultry
Product Reviewed: 21 Egg Incubator for Hatching for $110 less $7 coupon TL;DR; Overall great machine; Egg candle light not bright enough Very similar to a higher end 12 egg machine I bought 2 years ago. Simple design that lets you easily adjust temperature and day count. I really like that you can adjust the countdown to whatever you want, this allows you to run any type of egg. It’s rotation is based on an egg roller that turns 360 degrees - I prefer this over the tilting style. The egg area is spacious enough for both chicken and duck eggs - it is likely too small for goose eggs and too big for quail eggs. Measurements: 2” wide by 2.5” long (note it’s tapered so larger at one end than the other. Adding water is easy using the access port and the footprint isn’t bad for 21 eggs at 13” across. You can switch from C to F. There’s an indicator for heating and egg turning. I also like that when it comes time to stop the turner you just unplug the motor and do not have to disturb the eggs. The plastic is easy to clean, especially lower grates. Air vent is large and easy to use. Having the cancel light is a nice feature. It is very quiet and is C UL so good for use in Canada and the US. Unit draws 30W maximum. Fits 21 chicken eggs comfortably and would easily fit 21 duck eggs. Points for consideration: • external temperatures highly effect these style incubators. Instructions recommend 73-90f external temp. • Watching the rotations, it seems the outer ring of eggs does a very nice turn every hour (about ¾) but those located in the inner ring only rotate a ¼ turn or less. • The egg candling light isn’t bright enough to be of use. 4.5 stars. Recommended Item. Update: Note there are three identical reviews of this product. We have been using this incubator through a full cycle and continue to be quite pleased with it. Our Fav so far. How I review: Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points. - 0 for value but I try to provide guidance -0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel -0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on execution I select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. ... show more

  • This is my broody hen saver.
I've had backyard chickens for 20 years and I've always let a broody hen hatch out a batch. I've never needed an incubator until last year. Ones of my new hens got broody and since I didn't have a roo, I couldn't let her set but no matter what I did to discourage her, she persisted. She's would've starved herself to death rather than give up. I took all the eggs regularly and locked her out of the coop but she continued to be stubborn. I finally had to call some friends and get some hatchable eggs for her and that was a nail-biting 3 week wait for them to hatch. I've also had several hens that set for a week then give up (my brahmas) and then I have to place the eggs with another hen. So, I finally got an incubator (this one) to help save hens and chicks in such situations. I'm also going to use this incubator for the first 2 weeks of incubating the chicken eggs, then I'm going to place them under a broody hen for final hatching. This incubator includes everything I need for this and has enough spaces to incubate for three hens worth of chicks. The clear top, water reservoir, candling light, controls, and gauges are exactly what I needed. ... show more

  • Reliable incubator. Please read review.
Temp control, timer and egg turner all work great. The setup was easy. PLEASE READ: the only way to adjust humidity is by adding water to reservoir. The manual won't tell you this, but if you don't twist the lid until it seals your humidity will never get above 30-35%. I didn't realize this, and thought the incubator was completely closed, when in fact, I did not have turned completely until it locked into place. Once I did, humidity was no longer an issue ... show more

  • AUTOMATIC
Every year my daughter hatches a batch of chicks and ducklings at her school. Last year she set up cameras and everyone in school and at home could watch the birth. It’s really a wonderful experience for everyone involved. Her equipment was old and broken and the custom was probably going to go by the way side which I thought was a sorrowful thing. So this brand new/age, wonderful incubator will be going to the school to continue this custom with the 4th grade and the rest of us too! This incubator can hold 21 eggs chicken, duck or quail. It has an intelligent/computerized temperature control which tracks and records changes to help achieve optimal hatching. It also takes care of the humidity with water being added from the outside. There is an automatic turning of the eggs every hour and then stop before the last 3 days for hatching and there is a built in candler and automatic count down. The kids love that part. So thank you very much for helping to continue a wonderful experience for these kids and just for a note… All the chicks and ducklings have a home before this project starts at our local farm. ... show more

  • Works great!!
Setting it up was a breeze, which I appreciated. Didn't wanna spend hours on that. I've had it running for a bit now, and it's quiet, doesn't take up too much space. The first batch of chicks hatched, and it was amazing to watch. This incubator made it feel kinda effortless. Now, it ain't perfect. Adjusting the settings took a bit of fiddling to get just right, and I wish the instructions were a tad clearer on that part. But overall? This incubator's been great. If you're thinking of hatching your own chicks, this one's a solid choice. Makes the whole process feel less intimidating, especially if you're new to this like I was. ... show more
