This review is not about the iPad Air 5th generation (2022). It is about the stellar quality of this Amazon Renewed product and the incredible value I found in purchasing a refurbished device. The iPad arrived in a generic box that was in a well-protected outer package. I inspected it immediately and found no scratches or dents that would have caused me to return it. The included accessories were not Apple accessories, but they are compatible and they do not cause the iPad to complain. The device charges fine, has 100% of the original battery life, and is impossible to tell that it was refurbished. There were no device lockouts that I had to worry about. I was able to purchase this Amazon Renewed iPad with WiFi + 5G (unlocked) and 256 GB of RAM for the same price as a new iPad with just the WiFi + 5G option. I purchased the iPad with the Asurion 4 year plan because the only real drawback to buying an Amazon Renewed iPad is that you cannot get AppleCare for it. However, even with the Asurion 4 year plan I still spent less than I would have had I bought the same model brand new. In fact, it’s like I got the 256 GB memory upgrade for free! ... show more

I’ve just had this a couple days but from what I can tell so far this was a great purchase. It did not come with the original Apple charger but it did come with a nice long 10ft charging cable which I liked since I tend to need longer charging cables anyway. The exterior of the iPad Air is completely clean and looks like new. I was able to charge and set it up with zero issues. The battery life is great so far! It does not drain quickly. I liked that I was able to get a 4 year protection plan on this too, which is a major reason I went with it, because Apple’s plan only lasts 2 years or you have to pay monthly forever. I think the 4 year plan with Asurion is just right and they also have their own monthly plan if you want to look into even longer coverage. I actually bought this 5th generation Air to replace a 4th generation that quit due to a bad motherboard (First time I’ve ever experienced that with an Apple product and my whole family uses only Apple products that have lasted at least 7 to 10 years.) I had that previous Air 3 years, just a year past Apple coverage which was definitely frustrating but I learned my lesson that I need a longer care plan than just 2 years. I recommend everyone going with as long a protection plan as you can afford, because you are just as likely to encounter any issues if not more so past that 2 year timeframe. My power button on the last device was also starting to get stuck despite using a case and those buttons are not easy to repair on an iPad Air due to their proximity to the motherboard, so definitely do all you can to protect your device. Don't use a casual thin case that just looks cute, use something with enough padding to protect the whole device, especially if you live in a home with kids and pets, things get knocked over despite best practices. If you want your power button to last longer I recommend trying assistive touch too! It limits how much you need to use that power button and the volume buttons, since you can use Assistive Touch with a small button directly on the screen to do things like lock your screen, restart your device, control volume, and take a screenshot. The iPad looks and works like new. I was very concerned when it first arrived though, it was packaged very poorly. The iPad was wrapped in one thin layer of bubble wrap loose in a larger cardboard box free to slide around inside. Because of that it even got turned on and kicked into accessibility mode so it was talking the entire time until I finally got it opened up and that mode disabled. Amazing quality. It was as if brand new. I have nothing to note other than about the charger which wasn't original. On a more personal note, I purchased this as a substitute for an e-reader. I purchased this ipad for my business, for employee use. The employee abruptly left my employment and did not remove his phone number, apple ID, and "find my iphone" from the product. Though I provided Apple with a receipt from Amazon for the purchase, they will not unlock the ipad for another employee to use until I can provide a receipt between this seller and Amazon. This seller is unhelpful, telling me they don't keep records beyond 90 days and are unable to provide any document that proves to Apple they are an authorized reseller through Amazon. Buyer beware. If you buy a refurbished, unlocked unit from this seller for business use, it's a gamble. If that employee quits after putting their personal information into the ipad, you'll have a very expensive paperweight. It is my opinion that if you sell refurbished, authorized, unlocked Apple devices, you should have some way of proving to Apple that purchases are legitimate. ... show more
