    • Good Sound, But...
For the money it has good sound, and it fits in my HO engines. I did have a problem where a Soundtraxx Econami blew out two of them installed right after each other within a day of each installation in the same engine. They worked fine after installation, but didn't the next day, strange. Measured both speakers, and both were an open circuit, after being blown. I put in a computer speaker on the same decoder in the same engine, and it has lasted for several days. To be fair, it is working okay in a different engine with the same model decoder just fine for a couple of months, and in another engine much longer with a different decoder just fine. The other decoder is producing great sound, but the Soundtraxx® Mini Cube Oval Speaker is still the best so far. This one beats that one out in size. ... show more

The included tools will probably work fine if you don't have anything else, but I used my own tools just to be safe. Just a minor note. I purchased these replacement speakers because one of the speakers in my Switch was completely dead and the sound coming out of the other one was extremely distorted (that speaker occasionally stopped working as well). The replacement speakers have their own adhesive which is good. They look pretty much identical to the OG speakers, although the solder job of the wires look a bit less clean. I was really careful with them, making sure to handle them carefully and not to touch the diaphragm. The installation process went relatively smooth (it took me a little over an hour to finish) and the speakers work. Unfortunately, the sound coming out of one of the speakers is slightly distorted, especially with lows and mids and at volumes above 50%. The other speaker sounds good. It's a LOT better than the distortion I was getting out of the barely functional speaker and it's definitely better than no sound at all, but yeah. A bit of a bummer. ... show more
