I purchased this, along with other USB cables to find the best for my external hard drives. I have multiple external hard drives. The cables that I already have, contribute greatly to the speed. Using the same hard drive, but with different cables I can get anywhere from 40 MB/s to 175 MB/s. I have faster hard drives that get 250 MB/s, but I did not test that one. Becasue of the one cable getting only 40 MB/s transfer speed, I decided I needed new cables. With these cables the max I could do is 150 MB/s. This was tried with multiple cables on multiple hard drives. Using the same test, I can get a sustained 175 MB/s with other cables. I If wanting these for external hard drives. I really didn't expect these cables to be as nice as they are, given the low price. The woven fabric seems like it should be extremely durable, but only time will tell. Fits snugly into sockets, which is better than the cables being replaced. Unless the wires break before I get my money's worth out of them, I'll have to call this one of the better deals I've gotten on Amazon in the last dozen years. My brand new hard drive was disconnecting and decided to buy a newer cable to see if that would fix the problem. This not only fix my hard drive from disconnecting, I get much faster speeds then the cable that was included with my drive. Update: October 2021 and these cables no longer work properly. Unable to transfer data at any reasonable speed and often disconnects my drive even transferring files. A new cable fixed this problem. I gave this 3 stars because it doesn't always work. I have Windows 10 latest serv pac as of Feb 21. The blue ray player is seen but software can not be accessed.
