This was used to replace old fluorescent fixtures with LED replacement tubes, which had turned out to be quite unreliable and not very bright. Pro: 1. The new panels are very bright, exactly what we needed. 2. The night light feature (amber, around the edges) is very nice, but almost too bright. A standard light dimmer (approved models listed) can be used to dim these if desired; separate wiring for a 10V dimmer circuit is not needed, especially good when replacing existing lights with already installed wiring. I am not clear if the white light is also dimmable - the literature is doesn't really explain this, and I haven't purchased a dimmer to try it. It isn't really an issue for us as we like the bright white light. 3. Instructions are well written and easy to understand. The drywall ceiling support bracket for flush mounting is easy to install. It is not necessary to use the included drywall anchor system (generous supply of toggle bolts) if ceiling beams are available in the right place. 4. This is a big one. The switch to change the color of the lights is on the edge, instead of being on top of the light, which would require lowering the light to change. A number of other products do put the switch on top. 5. I bought two extra lamps in case I had any inoperative lamps, which seems to be a common complaint for all of the brands and models. I tested all of the lamps before installing and found them to all work perfectly. I will save the extra lamps in case they are needed later. These lamps will probably be hard to match in the future if needed, so having extra is good insurance. 6. The packaging was remarkably good, and there was no corner damage, which is a common complaint with LED panels. The generous use of hard plastic protectors at the corners and numerous Styrofoam blocks would have helped in the event of box damage, although my boxes were in absolutely good condition (USPS). 7. There is no white light leakage to the ceiling around the edges, even though due to an uneven celling, the panels didn't fit perfectly tight. The panels are very uniformly lit without dark spots. 8. The instructions are well written and easy to understand. Everything is supplied for a standard installation, including wire nuts. Con: 1. It would be nice if these lamps are a true 12" by 48", or perhaps even a bit larger. A fluorescent fixture, by virtue of the tube length is always going to be 48" long or slightly more. I knew from the detail listed on Amazon that they were under 48" long and under 12" wide but bought them anyway due to the other redeeming qualities. This means that I now have a border around the lamps that needs to be painted with matching paint, which may be hard to find. 2. It is clever that the manufacturer provides steel cables to hold the lamp near the ceiling while the wiring is connected. But the little clips at the end of the cables are a joke. They are so weak that they barely have enough strength to hold the weight of the light, and with the limited space, if the installer bumps the light, they open right up with the potential to have the lamp go to the floor. Why have such an amazing product, and then do something this bad and potentially dangerous? I gave up on the clips and used stainless safety wire to wire the ends of the cable to the attach points. 3. It is extremely difficult to hold the lamp up to the ceiling to slid it on to the tabs of the support bracket which is first secured to the ceiling during installation. The alignment needs to be perfect, and it is best done with two people. Of course, working overhead is what makes it so difficult. I ended up bending the tabs on the support bracket down slightly, which probably contributed to the panels not fitting quite as tight against the ceiling, although it isn't really very noticeable. Also, it is possible to not have the lamp secured to all four tabs if care isn't taken. ... show more

These lights are decent looking and seemed to be made well. The mounting bracket is a tad flimsy, but it is adequate to hold the fixture. You do need to use at least 4 of the included toggle bolts in order to secure the fixture securely. The brightness is very good, but the night light feature might be a bit bright. Not a bas value for 2 LED fixtures, will see how long they last under typical use. ... show more

Light mounting and design is typical of other manufacturers. Light brightness is good. Be very careful during assembly, the wires with a clip on both ends used to support the light during wiring will not support the weight of the light. And getting the mounting brackets to align properly to the mating clips on the light was a bear on one of the two lights. ... show more

I looked at several lights at the big box stores comparing the Lumen ratings for brightness and read many reviews focusing on brightness. Two of these 4800 lumen lights should be enough to replace 2 four feet florescent lights with 2 bulbs each but it was not. Although the room was well lit, it was not nearly as bright as it was previously with the old lights. From my research and comparison shopping, I find it hard to believe these are actually 4800 lumens. Installation was a breeze though. No problems with the wires used to temporarily hold the light while wiring it up. Seem like quality lights, just does not meet my brightness requirements. ... show more
