Brown can be dyed to a darker color, but if you want to dye it to a lighter color, you need to bleach it first. I got this Female Mannequin Head primarily to practice braiding as I'm terrible at French/Dutch braids and to try out some other hair styling techniques and it save my daughter from having to be my practice model while I learn. The skin is firm but soft, not a stiff hard plastic. She looks just like the photos and is pleasantly pretty (not super creepy like some I've seen). The hair cut isn't quite as pictures and is more tapered. Some hair is a bit longer than 18" while some is shorter. I would say it's pretty thick to about 16" then tapers off. The hair density is pretty thick especially around the front hair line. I would definitely not describe the hair as "silky" as they do. It's strait and tangle free, but not "silky". It feels kind of dry and course compared to my natural hair. This could be to the color and whatever treatment it goes though to give it a uniform look. Honestly, the texture isn't necessarily a bad thing as it seems to make it easier to practice braiding and styling. It fits well on the stand it comes with and I also tried it on a tripod style stand I have and it worked well on there too. ... show more

The hair is very nice, and the clamp rotates and tilts easily. There are no assembly instructions , so I have included a picture. Lay them in this order and then screw on the collar part. If you screw it tightly, it won’t move but you can also make it less tight, in which case you can freely swivel the head. I did take a star off because of the length of the hair. While it is true that there are some hairs that are 21” from the top of the head ( there are a few that are 24” actually), the hair starts to thin out between 16” and 17”, not 18 inches. It will work fine for me, but if you were counting on 18 “, you might be disappointed. ... show more

The SUMEI HAIR 18" Female Mannequin Head is pretty close to what you see is what you get. She is a soft skinned material, not a hard plastic head. The hair is so soft and easy to work with. So far, I have not had issues with shedding. The hair seemed a slight bit thinner in person that the pictures made it look but this hair is easy to work with and style. I got 5 clamps, received two reds instead of a blue. Everything else was exactly as described. I didn't measure the length of the hair but seems to be accurate.
