  • Replaced broken wheels on an older Rubbermaid yard cart
I couldn't find actual replacement wheels for my older Rubbermaid yard cart after the old ones cracked and broke, so I took a shot on these since the measurements were close. The retrofit was a bit of an adventure as I had to get a new shaft since these use a different diameter than the original but that turned out fine and my yard cart is rolling again. This was a bit of effort but much cheaper than getting a new yard cart/wheelbarrow and avoids (for now) putting a giant hunk of plastic in a landfill. I expect the yard cart itself will hold up for another decade or so. ... show more

  • Seem good but did not fit my Briggs and Stratton Generator
So these GIGOOL 14 X 1.75 wheels seemed to be the exact match for our Briggs and Stratton 5550 / 8550 Watt generator. Wheel diameter, width, hub width all fine. The problem I had was with the inside diameter of the 1/2 inch steel sleeve bushing in the center of the plastic hub. When I went to put them on the generator, which has 1/2 inch axles, they would not slide on. They were very close, but too tight. The generator axles were in very good shape / no rust or damage. It was so close that I decided I would "tap" them on with a hammer. I had already greased the axle and wheel sleeve with good anti-seize lubricant. It took a lot of hammering to get it on, and then it did not spin freely. The second side was worse than the first. After stopping and removing that wheel, the steel sleeve was stuck on the axle and came loose from the plastic wheel when I removed it. After some additional "mechanic'ing" and pounding the heck out of things, I got the second wheel on. In the end, I don't know if the fitment problem is with this wheel or with the generator. They both are nominally 1/2 inch. After the battle, I went back and measured the axle on the generator, and it was between 0.500 and 0.505 inches in diameter. So, if your axle is that large, do not buy these wheels. Pointing towards the generator being the problem, I did check the wheels on an old welding cart I have with a nominally 1/2 inch axle, and the wheel fit that fine. Hope this helps someone. Don't get them for a Briggs and Stratton 5550/8550 generator. ... show more
