This product is a set of six tools for swaging soft copper tubing as is performed in HVAC, plumbing, and some other applications. In addition to the swaging tools themselves, Quick Release Tool Holders, one for each tool, are also provided. Finally, a carabiner is provided to organize and securely retain all six tools in a single set. The tools are sized to swage 1/4'', 3/8'', 1/2'', 5/8'', 3/4'', and 7/8'' soft copper tubing (pipe). The swages are used to expand one piece of soft copper tubing so that another piece of tubing of the same size may be inserted and soldered into place. Each swage has a 1/4" hex shank that can be driven (turned) by a drill or impact driver to enter and expand the soft copper tubing. The swages are made from High-Speed Steel and are hard enough to expand the soft copper tubing without any significant wear to the tool itself. That said, these tools are not designed to be used with hard copper pipe or other hard metal tubing materials. This product does not include any instructions and is only for use by those that have been trained in the use of swaging tools and know what they are doing. It is very easy to injure oneself when performing these tasks so precautions must be taken. The media could not be loaded. No more searching for your most used bits! This holds at least 6 bits and all on a pocket size waist clip. I’m not exactly sure what the black pieces are for since I am not an HVAC technician so for that I apologize for not knowing fully what those are for I just know what I will be using it for which is more for drill bits, any 1/4” hexagon bottom pieces that I use a lot with my drill. The pieces are really easy to take out the bits and to put the bits in. I use a lot of 1/4” size bits for my jobs and that’s why it will be nice for me to use. I also like the clip all the pieces go on. It has a built in piece that allows you to lock it which I feel is a nice touch but it also allows for you to not lock it so you can latch it to your belt buckle and then lock it. All around solid choice! Good quality set, durable for sure, seems like these will take a good beating and still be very usable. They’re built knowing they will be used a lot. Grab a 1/4” bit, you push it in and it clicks into place. I tried pulling on the bit to pull it would but I couldn’t do it so it’s very strong! Then when you want to release the bit you push up on the colored piece and it releases the bit to be used. It’s a very nice design and easy to use! I know it says for HVAC but honestly anyone that uses a lot of bits - it will work for you too. I would recommend this to my fellow workers in my field as well as to anyone that uses a lot of bits, either for work or in your spare time. Nice piece to have! ... show more

These swage bits are well marked as to size, use standard 1/4" connection to a Impact drill, made of HSS and with training is a safe and cost efficient method to join soft copper consistently. The addition of the "D" ring with hex bit holders serve to organize and possibly prevent damage to the bits by clipping them to your brazing kit or tool box. On a safety note there are no heat proof gloves provided with the set, but, you have to protect your hands while using as they develop lots of heat while stretching the copper. ... show more

This is a handy tool to have for either residential or commercial HVAC work. The clip is secure and helps when running into different size tubing, keeping all bits easily accessible. Only problem is after continued use the markings will eventually wear off, so you may want to engrave the sizes into the tools themselves. No fittings are necessary anymore to join 2 pieces of copper tubing. Now I can swedge (enlarge) one tube to slide over the other tube then solder it up. I think this is a better connection than using a coupler to solder in both sides. I like this better than flare or compression fittings for plumbing copper water lines, too. The carabiner and color coded quick connects is convenient also. ... show more

These swaging tools do work. I have only tried the 2 smallest sized and had no toubles with the tube splitting on me. The carabiner clip is a great way to keep these bits organized. Be aware, using these do heat up the pipe, so don't burn yourself.
