This is the card Amazon customer service told me to get for the Fire 7 (9th generation) That my daughter exclusively uses. Amazon didn't give me any indication that I would need to take extra steps to get it to work. It cannot be set up while in kindle freetime mode. While in freetime mode (after entering my pin) the kindle didn't even register any SD card at all. After changing users and going to storage then manage storage I was able to see that the kindle now saw the card. Clicking on it I was given a message asking if I wanted to format the card. I proceeded to format the card. My Daughter no longer receives an error message when she wants to download an app, game, or book in freetime. ... show more

I am not sure which generation we have but we have the Kids Fire 7 and at first an error popped up but immediately after installation instructions appeared. We followed the instructions and it worked perfectly.

The Fire units are very frustrating but this card does seem to be the only one to use with these finicky devices. I was able to expand internal memory pretty easily. If there are any issues its going to be with the device not this card
