  • High powered, fun, compact, and so easy to use, plus shoots photos/video. Includes micro SD card.
The media could not be loaded. 1000X Handheld Microscope for Kids 4K 2.0" Screen Rechargeable Mini Pocket Digital Microscopes w/Slides Kit Portable Edu Gift Age 4-6 8-12 Children Students I'm absolutely delighted with this little handheld digital microscope. It completely exceeded my expectations. It's lightweight, compact, rechargeable, and the textured focusing wheel makes it easy to perfectly focus one-handed. It's as simple as using a jeweler's loupe, but easier to see and more powerful--plus, you can snap pictures. It even comes with a micro SD card you can use to record pictures or videos. The picture quality isn't mind-blowing in the photography world, but it's pretty mind-blowing for a little $40 device. I've included some pictures and a video I took of a flower, along with a picture with my phone of the flower. I'm not very practiced at using it, so they could be better, but for my first try, they're not bad! The video shows me moving around the flower and focusing at different points, and then zooming in and refocusing, so there's a fair amount of motion and blur, but you can also see that it comes into pretty good focus when I get it still. The base has a removable cover with a solid white background spot to focus on that holds slides in place, and 5 prepared slides for fun. It comes with a nice protective case and a lanyard, so you can wear it on nature walks or gardening. It even has a tripod adapter. When you use it for non-slides (for me, pretty much all my use), you just pop off the cover so you can freely position it over the object of interest. You can brighten/dim the LED as needed with a wheel. The controls aren't terribly intuitive, and the instructions aren't helpful, but you can get the hang of it with a little play. The only thing it took me a while to sort out, and which was pretty counter-intuitive to me, was that when you're deleting photos, use the power button to select the item your deleting. The actual power is activated on/off with a long hold (3 seconds), but the power button is used as control button with a short click within the interface. For household/hobby/student use, I think it is marvelous! I'm using it to look at plant problems and insects, mostly, plus the occasional creepy closeup of a wound or scratch or splinter. Honestly, this would be a welcome gift for many adult hobbyists, crafters, and gardeners, and for any kid (or adult) who loves nature or science. ... show more

  • Impressive digital microscope and camera
It takes a lot to get a five-star review from me, but this little microscope camera ticks all the boxes. First off, it comes in a gift box package with the "shelf ready" box inside. Then inside that is a nice storage pouch that contains the camera, a lanyard, a USB charging cable, and a set of premade slides with things like a fly head (ewww!) mounted on them. The microscope has a plastic spacer base with a cap that holds a slide in place, but that can pop off so that you can look at other stuff. It has a nice resolution display for viewing and menu options for taking photos or videos, and even comes with its own micro-SD card! I've included a couple of pictures of a dollar bill to let you see how a picture comes directly from the camera. It has a variable brightness ring light and focus control. The body of the case even has a tripod mount, allowing it to be mounted and used as an inspection scope. The only complaint I could bring against it is that the manual had the power and "ok" buttons mis-labeled, so it took me a bit to figure out how to turn it on, but I can't take away a star for that. ... show more

  • 9yo daughter really enjoys it
I got this for my 9-year-old daughter to try. We tried two handheld microscopes that you must look through the lens at, and she didn't care for them. She could never focus correctly or view the subjects through the lens properly. This microscope allows you to view the subject on the screen. Because of that, I can help her adjust focus and move the microscope to the most interesting parts of the subject. She absolutely loves it. She ran around the house, "microscoping" everything she could find. She's learned more about rocks and minerals, textiles as well as insects already. The microscope also takes pictures and videos, but I don't know that we'll use that feature much. She is too busy looking at different objects. Having the slides is nice, but she didn't spend much time with them as she prefers to look at familiar objects from a microscopic perspective. The microscope charges via USB-C, which is great. We charged it to full when we first got it and have only needed to charge it one time since. This is much more than a toy microscope, yet not a scientific instrument. The quality is good enough to satisfy my daughter's curiosity and it's easy enough to use that it doesn't cause her frustration during use. We're quite pleased with it. ... show more

  • AWESOME field trip for homeschool!
This hand held microscope is really cool. Doing science projects for homeschool, I am always trying to find something fun and interesting and get the kids to enjoy science. This microscope makes a wonderful learning opportunity to go take a walk through the woods or park and learn while getting some fresh air. What a great field trip! It has a nice hard case a carrier and a charger. It is very easy to handle. And also, it has some samples with it to view and learn with! I didn't realize that when I got it, so it gives you an opportunity to make this a multiple day learning experience. The first day explaining how to use and viewing the samples, and then the next day going on the field trip. Then even taking it a third day to review everything you have learned. AND it can be a seasonal field trip, or different habitats. Oh, we are going to have fun with this! ... show more

  • Fairly easy to use but not hugely clear.
The magnification is fair, not great, but it's fun to see things enlarged. We immediately looked through all the included slides of insect parts and things then found plant leaves to see. It's fun. A great kids learning tool. I recommend it for kids.
