My son’s room gets the brunt of the Florida sun all day. His windows were tinted a bit, he has blinds and blackout curtains but his room was still always so hot. I was looking for something that wasn’t going to break the bank to help cool his room. It was easy to put up, as others have said because it comes folded it does have wrinkles. Our AC went out not long after I put this up, I just rolled it up so we could open his windows. I could have used a bigger size as I didn’t measure before I bought it and it is short on the bottom. Overall I think this is well worth the money and would recommend as it has helped to block the sun and help cool his room. ... show more

Have been battling tropical heat since moving to Hawaii. 4 sealed windows face west, no blinds or curtains. Temp in the space NEVER lower than 80 degrees F, and often 90. Put up the plastic and it helped, but not enough. THIS is a game changer. My east coast sister was visiting, and sitting on the sofa, and as soon as one window was covered she stated how much better it was without the sun streaming in. It stays DARK in the room at night now; no street light coming in at night, and for the 1st time in a year, the temp in there is 7 degrees cooler at mid-day. There are lower windows that open, with curtains, but the high ones were too high for this old bag to climb up and cover. SO: got the fabric and HEAVY duty 3M velcro tape (it comes with some, some but reviews stated the fabric came down). Also came with a tape measure to get the dimensions correct. Taped to the window frame, so it completely covers the space. No gaps. No rippling. No light, and I am getting 2 more hours a sleep a night. HIGHLY recommend. Comes in black facing the room, or white. I chose white and it looks like big pictures up there with nothing on the surface, rather like wrapping the frames at Christmas time to look like gifts. ... show more

I am in awe of these blackout shade FUNCITIONALITY. Super easy to install. Comes with plenty of adhesive. With these black out shades on the windows there is a dramatic change in temp. When the sun hits these windows in the late afternoon it makes the room so hot leaving the AC to be on constantly on. NOW the AC is not constantly running. I wish I would have done this sooner. Well with the money! The last two pics are what the room looks like in the day! LOVE IT! ... show more

I'm in love with this black out fabric. Easy to use. After you do one window you learn how easy it can be. Keeps the sunlight and heat out! I'm a day sleeper, so this was perfect. Plus it came in white to match my blinds and curtains. I have a set of sliding glass doors that faced East and would let a lot of light and heat into my house. This fabric covered them perfectly with 157 length. The only reason I'm giving a 3 star rating is because I didn't get a measuring tape and the fold wrinkles. I wish there were lightly printed dots or dashes to assist with measuring and cutting. Otherwise thrilled and I can't wait to see my electric bill go down after a month of using this fabric. I love this fabric so much I ordered another piece to do all my windows! Another reason for the 3 star rating is bcuz, the adhesive on the hook & loop fasteners melted in the heat! The adhesive melted and the fabric along with glue mess slid down the window! I had to purchase a separate brand of hook & loop fasteners and reapply the fabric. ... show more

Ok had it up for about 4 days in hot heat. I am on the second story with a room with a huge window with two PCs, one for work and another for FUN! The portable AC works well for 90% of the year, but once the weather gets to 90 degrees and the hot afternoon sun hits the window, the room can get hot and overpower the AC. Now, I grew up in Southern Utah and learned very quickly. I'm not too fond of the heat, and I love furnished basements often because they are cooler. Well how to turn my hot 2nd story bedroom into a dark cave. I already had mirror vinal tint on the windows, but it did not keep them heating up. Also, I already had standard blackout currents from when I worked in the graveyard, so I figured adding another layer of thin blackout blind curtains that are put up by velcro to the window frame and, with it, a white reflective side would keep the hot sun from heating. Well, my room has not got hotter than 80 degrees, even with 98-100-degree days. I sleep better at night, and my poor little black-and-decker AC won't have to work so hard. For the price you get a lot and you cut to match the shape of your window. I great for odd shape or very small windows too. In combination with the standard blackout current, your room will be pitch black. Which is impressive when you like to chill with low ambit light. If you cut them out properly, they should block out most of the light, but they are thin, so you can still see some light. In Tandem, with proper black-out curtain drapes, your room should will have no light. ... show more

    • Deep creases will not come out. I tried boiling water, a steamer not even a little bit smooth.

It took me over an hour to peel it apart from itself because it was so vacuum packed in the bag. There are deep deep creases. The deep creases do not come out …not even a little. I tried heat and to boil it. I hung it up in the shower to steam it but nothing, steam it with my professional steamer, nothing….not even a little. Very disappointed. Not as pictured.. The material does not stretch at all or stick to the Velcro provided… it pops right off. It does block the light if you can get to stick… recommend nailing it to the wall or using a staple gun…hot glue didn’t work either . good luck! ... show more

It keeps the light out. I work graves and I need darkness! This works. It was a bit of a chore to cut out the piece from the huge this they send but once we got it getting it up was a breeze.
