  • Phone can be put on monthly plan after activated on pre-paid plan.
Size: 16GB
I had to determine what was a must-have in a new phone and what features had to be a trade off. - I put things down all the time without paying attention to where I leave them (not good!), so, I learned long ago that I had to sacrifice a larger screen size for a small format phone that could fit in a phone case that could comfortably ride on my hip while attached to my belt. - I've worn out USB ports from charging phones and tablets so my next phone either had to support wireless charging or have a battery compartment so I could flip out a discharged battery and with a freshly recharged one. - I needed it to replace my existing phone on my monthly multi-line "family" plan. This phone supported all three of these criteria and yes, the Blade Vantage 5 may be a pre-paid phone but it's been working fine on my monthly (post-pay) multi line plan, replacing my eleven year old 4" Samsung Stratosphere (with it's slide out keyboard) that can't support VoLTE phone calls. I miss the tactile feedback of the old physical keyboard but there's nothing (affordable) I can do... sigh. I thought the pre-paid plan was tied to just the micro-SIM card that comes with the phone, but it turns out that the phone its self can only be "activated" using a pre-paid plan. My cheapest option (currently) was their $35 plan. Once I had it activated I was able to have the person at Verizon's 1-800 customer support line switch the phone over to my post paid (monthly) plan, assigning it to the phone number of my now retired Stratosphere. FYI, they said they switch pre-paid phones to post paid plans all the time. It's a lower res display that does not have wide viewing angles, especially noticeable in landscape mode, but for calls (no signs of the annoying HD voice fade out so far), YouTube vids (which can be cast to my TV), simple games, and basic texting, it gets the job done. Just don't expect a lot if you try viewing 3D images in a VR headset. The pixels are noticeable and the detail just isn't there. ... show more

  • I'm Back with An Updated Edit of this Phone - !!!DO NOT PURCHASE!!! Zero Stars
Size: 16GB
>>>Updated Review Oct. 2021<<< I bought this phone 2 times, 1st phone I gave to My GrandDaughter (see 1st review below). The 2nd one I bought as a backup phone in spring of 2020 at $29, it's NOT worth 0.29 cents NOR the ridiculous $49.00 they've increased the price to. I didn't start using this phone until Oct 2021. This is a garbage .a. .s. .s. phone. When someone calls and I attempt to answer while the lock-screen is on the phone disconnects the call. So, I disabled the password for the lock-screen, that don't work either. This is also an issue even when the screen is sleep and a call comes in when I attempt to answer it still disconnects the call. The time when it works to allow for answering is when the phone is in "wake"/unlocked mode. I can only keep it in wake mode for up to a ½ hour. That will drain the already WEAK battery significantly. Aside from all these troubles with this phone, the battery charge is HORRIBLE!!! I didn't add any new apps. I even disabled unnecessary non-deletable apps and deleted stupid, useless pre-installed apps to reduce battery drain. As soon as I take this phone off charger at 100%, battery drain quickly starts dropping to 97% after a few minutes as if this is an old phone battery after an hour, it's down to 15-20%. Keep in mind, I purchased phone 4-2020 never used it until 10-2021. I don't expect a lot from a cheap phone such as this. I just need it for back up. But I never expected this nonsense from an otherwise unused phone. As soon as My Galaxy phone is out of the repair shop, I'm burying this phone in the garbage can. I see why much of the stuff that don't sell well in other retailers ends up on Amazon or eBay. >>>My 1st Review Of This Phone Apr. 2020<<< If You Have an Older Verizon PrePaid Minute Plan from 2005 this Phone is Not Compatible. I have an older plan that still works for Me (still works 2021). Verizon phased it out for new accounts on SmartPhones. I pay a minimum of $5+tax, I've been "GrandFathered" in. I get 10 cents per min up to 10pm and 10pm-6am it's unlimited talk to anywhere on earth. If I change to a smart-phone, I lose the benefit of paying $5 minimum. I only use the old phone as a back up phone. I don't want to pay $35 minimum for this ZTE SmartPhone while I already have 2 other Verizon accounts (a house phone & smartphone). I just simply thought I could upgrade the old phone - a button phone to the 2020's touch screen lifestyle. I even contacted Verizon on their chat-box they said yes I could prior to activation attempt. However, not at all. As I attempted to activate the phone by porting My current phone number I was informed to upgrade the plan to the higher $35 monthly price. I refused and decided to give the ZTE smartphone to My GrandDaughter. I guess this ZTE Phone is okay deserving 5 stars maybe, I gave it 3 stars due to this issue of not being able to use this phone and having to pay $35 for My back up phone I don't use much. ... show more

  • Worth it. ZTE BLADE Vantage Z839 version 7.1.1
Size: 16GB
I have divorced myself from the utter NONSENSE that is the Samsung lineage and got this as a temporary phone and I haven't actually thrown it out the window yet. Pros: *Lightweight *Fast *Cheap *Verizon so you get the benefit of all those towers *Stands up to drops and spills like a champ. I abuse my phones so much and this thing has stood up to all of it...including being dropped on a concrete bathroom floor many....maaaaany times. *No problems with touch screen. Go online for the manual. *BATTERY LIFE: AWESOME. I am used to Samsung's high maintenance B.S. and I can't believe that I have left this thing on -with 4G on- all night and woke up in the morning to find it sitting there smiling at me. Not dead, not even mostly dead, (Princess Bride reference), but still with 20 % power?! *Grippy outside means you drop it less. Like that. *Brightness! I can see it without having to shade the phone with my hands in midday sun. I am outside a lot and this was a very pleasant surprise. *Tbh, I dropped it from a substantial height and it's still working like nothing happened. (Insert meme about Samsungs exploding) Cons: *Camera image quality sucks but go to manual mode. it makes it a little better. *Screen is TERRIBLE but it works. And its tough, virtually scratch free after three months with me. *Only 16 gigs will not last as long. Overall, Def worth 40, 50 bucks. But for the long haul, you're gonna want to shell out for ram and a decent camera. Ordered it again and the second one was so much smaller. ??This is the one that burned out in three months. I didn't return it so I have another back up phone. Obviously used phones, but..that's Amazon for you. ... show more
