I have had this mattress for 2 years now, and I still love it. Every single night. It is firm, but still soft and fluffy feeling. It gives you the feeling of sinking into a super soft mattress without any of the actual sinking. The edges are less supported though so if you sit on the edge of the mattress, to put shoes on etc., it’s not super comfortable and does feel like you’re falling off. Put this mattress in our guest room. Everyone who sleeps over says it is great. It's a little firm but it is comfortable. I can't say much about if it will hold up or not, we only have guests a few times a year, so I would expect a long life due to limited use. It's very heavy, you will need someone to help you move it to your room. It doesn't pop or explode open, but you will want it in position when you unwrap it.     • Finally - an affordable, firm mattress

As a man of gravity (approaching 300lb) I look for a mattress that’s decidedly on the firm side. I can’t speak for everyone, but this was exactly what I was looking for to provide firm (but still comfortably soft) support. Out of the box, the top layer of foam did look rumpled and lumpy beneath the mattress cover. But by the end of the first night, everything was settled and smooth. (Make sure to let it unroll and rise fully in one place before trying to move it - I think trying to move it while it was expanding was my mistake.) After just one night, I feel more rested than I have in years of sleeping in memory foam and soft “hybrid” mattresses. It doesn’t seem to sleep hot - I’m like a space heater but this passed the sweat test in a 74° room. Dry and comfortable all night. For my weight, this mattress is great in any sleep position: side, stomach and back all feel natural. It has just enough sink so that my behind is flush with my spine if I’m on my back, which no mattress has ever managed to do for me before. If you’re on the lighter side, this might not be the same for you, but again, just speaking for my own size. The quilted top doesn’t have large divots like some mattresses, and the top layer of foam is just thick enough to feel plush without the marshmallow/quicksand feel of the Zinus memory foam mattresses. Great edge support too - sleeping on my side it felt stable right up to the edge. I wouldn’t sit on it to put my shoes on, though… it smashes flat under my weight in a sitting position. I am tired of buying expensive overrated mattresses in an attempt to reduce my pain. I have disabling neck and back pain. We let this mattress set up for 30 hours before sleeping on it. The mattress is very firm but after sleeping on it for one night I was able to walk better the next day. Also, I noticed my body pain was less with this mattress and I feel less point pressure while trying to fall asleep. It was nice not to toss and turn and get up multiple times the first night, if you want a firm mattress, at a low cost, I recommend this mattress. There was no smell and we gave it a day and a half to open up. I tried the wine glass test when we first got it and it worked like a charm... we followed the strict instructions about not sitting or laying or leaning on the edges which could cause slacking. It was very soft and also firm and seemed to hug the both of us on each side at our resting points. About a year and a half later, we noticed, that even though we had been careful, the pillow top was starting to flatten everywhere. Fast forward to today... the pillow top has completely flattened and so has any other impact sponge. If someone breathes heavily on the other side of the mattress, the whole thing turns into a wave pool. We loved the mattress at first but it is really more of a 1-2 year product at most. Although it's not super pricey, for a few hundred more, we could have had something that lasted much longer and wasn't going to end up in a landfill so quickly. ... show more

The mattress is firm, the sides are a little softer than the middle. The mattress doesn't have much give or bounce but it's comfortable none the less. The material is good quality. It never expanded to 13". The "bed in a box" thing rarely expands to their said measurements which I knew before I bought it. I knew I would be putting a gel pad on top so it worked for me. If you are looking for a firm mattress with quality quilting this will do. Be sure to order a a thicker size knowing it's unlikely to fully expand. I read that lightly walking on the mattress will help with decompression. I may try that to see if I can get anymore expansion. ... show more
