Description

With the Zareba 5 Mile Solar Low Impedance Fence Charger your fence can have power from anywhere. This fence charger runs up to 2 weeks without sunlight and is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. With 0.15 output joules, this energizer will support animals and livestock such as cattle, horses, pigs, and goats. This charger energizes up to 5 miles of fencing, although if using poly products, you should expect about half of the power. The more material along the fence line, the harder the energizer must work to pass voltage through the line. To prepare the 5 Mile Solar Charger for first use, place the unit in full sun for 3 days in the off position. After this charging period, the unit is ready to use and install. Set the charger's integrated mounting bracket onto a T-post, Y-post, or round-wood post. On T-posts specifically the charger can rotate 360 degrees to face the suns changing directions. The durable case will protect the energizer against the elements. Built in the USA, it is tested with a full load at our manufacturing facility and comes with a 1-Year Limited Warranty including damage from lightning.. Controlling livestock in a location without access to AC power is easy with the Zareba 5 Mile Solar Fence Charger. The Zareba 5 Mile Solar Fence Charger powers up to 5 miles of fence and can be used with the following fence types: steel/aluminum, poly wire/poly rope and poly tape. • Put it in right and it works great
Keeps my dog in her yard and keeps the male dogs out

  • Surprise Ending: Never worked, now cannot return
Update: Contacted Zareba and to my surprise, they sent me a new charger! Excellent customer service. Original: Due to snow in the area, had to wait for the ground to thaw before installing (new post and ground poles). Followed instructions exactly, but it never charged. Not my first install as i have other pasture areas with solar powered electric fencing. Now i am left with a charger that cannot be used and out lots of $'s. Very unhappy with this purchase ... show more

  • Direct replacement for one that died. (See below for fixing old one)
These aren’t cheap, but my old one lasted about 5 years. They are powered by a small battery and charged up by solar. I have maybe 500 feet or so of paddock electrified so horses won’t chew on cross rails. After buying the new one I found a YouTube vid explains how to take old one apart to get at the battery. Bought a battery fro something like $35. Took old one apart, charged and installed new battery, put back together and works fine. Not hard to do if your a little bit handy. Installed the new one & have a backup. By the way, this is outside 24/7 in northern Ohio mounted on the barn wall facing south. Not covered and very exposed to elements. Hard to believe that old battery lasted so long (5-6 years) in those extreme conditions. Here it can get below zero and tons of snow in winter & blazing hot in summer. Good product & easy to install. ... show more

  • Great fence charger
We've bought 3 of these now and they work so much better than the other units we have tried. They are a little pricier than some of the other units but so worth the price

  • Great non-lethal method of deterring pest!
The media could not be loaded. After performing lengthy searches and research on preventing natures creatures from accessing and damaging my property, I chose this fence charger. I've had squirrels hiding their food in my gutters during the year and then building their nest raising their young. I've personally removed their nest two years in a row. This solution has completely repelled their interest in accessing my property once and for all. ... show more

  • No easy access to on off switch
This unit is one of many Zareba chargers that I have bought and have been satisfied. This one is the worst set up ever! I thought that I could just replace the one that died easily. But no.... I can't set this one on the platform of the other because the on/off switch is BENEATH the unit!. A real horror show in an emergency. At first I couldn't find it. You have to hang this way up high so you can contort your body to see/find the on/off in hopes that you don't get zapped in doing so. What tech sitting in Mom's basement thought this one up? And it is plastic! Just like everything else... downgrade in quality. Now lets see if it actually works. I would send this one back but I can't have the cows galavanting the neighborhood. They need out of the barn. ... show more

  • Works perfectly
My mare, Cassie, is a challenging creature. She is equal parts beauty and brains, and therefore, she likes to test the capabilities of the electric fence. There isn't a creature alive that could complete such thorough R&D on a fence, so it is of the utmost importance that my fence is functional. My previous fence charger took its last breath at the very worst time. My husband was out of town for work and I (a 125 pound woman) had to fix it on my own, and quickly. I am not skilled with this sort of thing. I can build a wooden fence well enough. But at the time of install, it was 100 degrees outside and I am a disabled duck who gets dizzy from the mere act of standing under the hot, summer sun. I ordered this bad boy and set about installing it. To my surprise, it was as easy as pie. Took me a grand total of 20 minutes to install it, check my ground wire, and check to ensure the voltage was indeed appropriate. I let it charge for a full day and it has been smooth sailing ever since. If this one ever stops working I'll probably buy two more simply for how easy it was for me to set it up. ... show more
