The seats are fabric, very firm with comfortable cushion seats. They have a low back and are excellent for our use. We do not use them as dining chairs but use them to do sitting exercises. These chairs are very strong with steel legs, they look great and easy to put together. I am overly impressed with the quality and functionality of these chairs. They are extra easy to assemble and they hold 300 pounds. The manufacture includes the wrench needed to put the chair legs together, extra bolts and an extra leg foot. I bought these after reading everyone else’s reviews on the comfort level. I wanted good padding for my back. Color was a plus too! I put these together myself and it took about an hour.
