Description

With a fully-enclosed bar and chain, the Worx 6” 20V JAWSAW™ Chainsaw is the safest chainsaw you can buy. The bar and chain actually retract into the neck of the tool when not in use, so you’ll never have a bare chainsaw just lying around the yard. And when in use, the thick protective housing prevents the blade and chain from ever getting outside of it. The bar moves up and down to accommodate branches up to 4” thick, but far less of the chain is ever exposed. Plus, the housing acts as prop for cutting branches on the ground. With a traditional chainsaw, you have to prop them up first to safely cut them, but with the JAWSAW, you can get to work on fallen branches right from the grass or pavement. It’s lightweight, less than 8 lbs, so it’s easy to hold up high and cut above your head. As a matter of fact, it’s compatible with our 5-foot pole attachment (sold separately), so you can trim tree limbs without having to get on a ladder. That’s safer, too. And the auto-tension and auto- oiler systems will keep the chain operating at optimum levels throughout the life of this tool. This model comes with a 20V 2.0Ah battery and 0.4A charger, which you can use to operate any tool on the Worx Power Share platform. So the next time you buy a tool, you probably won’t need to buy a new battery.

  • Does what I need with the level of safety that someone new to chainsaws can appreciate
I have never had a chainsaw before, so I did not go for the "standard" style. I really like this because it allows me to use it and have a level of safety with the metal jaws that surround the blade. It is not as flexible to use a normal chainsaw, but for what I need it for, it does the job. I have a few trees on my property that have small downed limbs from time to time due to the weather we get here in Ohio (high winds, snow, ice). Easy to maintain, and the instructions that come with it work well. ... show more

  • Worx Great :)
I have the Black & Decker equivalent, but find this far superior in most ways. I cut up several fallen branches and other sticks too substantial for a lopper yesterday and couldn't be more satisfied with the results. Whether the stick was 4" or 1", the tool was equally effective. I'm old and can't do as much as I once could, so if there's a tool that helps me and is safe and easy to use, I'm all for it. The B&D tool requires two hands (a good safety feature for that design) but since it's heavy and I'm not all that steady anymore, I find it awkward to position, and if you don't get it positioned well, the chain comes off track far too easily--and is an enormous hassle to get back on. On the other hand, this Worx cutter can be positioned with its jaws over the branch on the ground. You trigger it and push down to cut the branch. Wow! So much easier! It has safety features too, but they are better placed and once started, you can finish the cut pushing with one hand if you want to hold on to something for balance--helpful for me if I want to secure a branch with one foot. Mostly though, I didn't need support because I could stand still and just lean on the tool for the cut. After many, many cuts, the chain was still in place and fine, but should it come off or need adjusting, it's easy to get to unlike the B&D. I secured the included tool to access the chain to the JawSaw handle so it's always with me. Although the instructions say bar & chain oil isn't included, there was a small bottle in the box I received, along with a bottle to transfer it too with a narrow spout to pour it into the tool reservoir (which has a window so you can keep track of how much is in there). It holds a good amount so if you fill it before a session you don't have to worry about it running dry. The B&D, on the other hand, says to reoil after every 5 cuts. Really? You can't tell how much oil is in that tool's reservoir and the hole to pour it in is tiny and not covered so I never knew if it was clogged or full when the oil dribbled all over. If you want to cut branches off a fallen or standing tree or cut down saplings, a situation where the branch is not on the ground, you need two hands for the Worx and the tool is rather heavy to hold up for that work, but shouldn't be a problem for someone sturdier than I. For higher branches, though, I think you'd be better off with a long-pole battery powered saw lopper than this tool with the extension because the weight of this tool would make it hard to maneuver at a distance. I have one of those battery loppers, so only wanted this tool for fallen sticks and branches, and it works really great for that. I was cutting yesterday with the limbs lying on gravel and somehow this thing cuts them through without touching the gravel which would dull the chain. No problem, on that score. The tool arrived with some charge in the battery so I tried it out right away. After the first several cuts, though, I got concerned when it would start but then stop before cutting a limb through, but that was because the battery had essentially run out. Because I pushed that poor battery, it took several hours to fully charge, but then lasted well through the rest of my work the next day. I won't push it that far again. I have other Worx tools and should have known it's better to quit and recharge if the tool stops while working, even it it seems willing to restart, but stops again. Mostly I recharge after every working session unless I've not used the tool much. The batteries do seem to hold the charge well over long periods of disuse. All in all, this tool is a winner. ... show more

  • Works great!!!
Used for cutting up brush and small trees. Works very well. The jaws hold the branch off the ground and you dont need a second person to hold for cutting. Very pleased with purchase.

  • Excellent Tool for Easy Cutting
It's lightweight and easy to use, making yard work a breeze. The cordless feature is super convenient, and the battery lasts surprisingly long. It cuts through branches effortlessly and feels safe to operate.

  • Safe and easy to use for small jobs bs
Stores away nice and no dangerous blade sticking out to injure myself if I dropped it while I was sawing some branches and hot the cement. Decent battery life

  • Amazon doesn't have enough stars..
This Worx Jawsaw is awesome. It handles everything I throw at it with ease. Chop a large branch down, then chop it up into small pieces very quickly. It also makes short work of cutting bamboo. This is probably the best yard-maintenance tool I own. I also got the extension pole and that works great as well. It's heavy-ended once attached, but it does the job with power to spare. The price for this thing is good too; $170 is a steal for something so useful around the yard. If you're reading this then just pull the trigger and buy one. You'll be glad you did! ... show more

  • Just a Bust
First off, I ordered a previously opened item described as having a "damaged box.". That it did, and it arrived so poorly packaged to make that even worse. The unit is complicated to set up and requires studying before even using it. This involves trying to read a badly printed and designed cheap paper manual and diagram with teeny print. After finally figuring out all the chambers, putting in oil, adjusting the chain and so on, the thing wouldn't even start. Calling WORX then became the next obstacle. Nobody ever answered the phone. Ever. After several days of trying, I finally got one young girl who was clueless and suggested I "read the manual.". When I asked to talk to someone knowledgeable in tech support, she took my info with the promise of a call-back. Never happened. Finally, several days later by then, I looked on YouTube and located a video posted about replacing the JawSaw chain. Watching that at least gave me a better idea how it worked compared to the rice paper manual. I then re-did every step to double check what I'd done before. Before running it, I called WORX again and actually got through to a guy who I posed more questions to. When I FINALLY tried out the Jacksaw on a small branch, perhaps 3" thick, the motor went on but nothing happened. I must have held that thing for ten minutes and it barely made a notch in the branch. I could do better with a knife. I concluded that the chain which came with the Jacksaw was dull and needed replacing. By then, I'd wasted over a week of time and now had to dismantle the contraption and try to fit it back into the damaged box which never could stay shut. It was another few hours of my time to prepare the shipment, return it to UPS, and then deal with Amazon customer service. None of this would have happened had a defective unit not been sold. Possibly a prior customer had ordered one new, used it to the hilt, and then returned it for a refund. My other concern was that, to me, it is a safety issue to sell a tool like this without thoroughly checking the unit before pawning it off on the next customer. My advice is not to buy this as an open box or used item, unless you're handy with jimmying around with such tools. As for a good unit, I was put off by the size of it and the force needed to maneuver it for a female. Fiddling with chain adjustments or having to later on put on a new one is not useful. ... show more
