Product as advertised.... Blue Jaw covers has high durometer ruber material...About the same hardness as a car tire... Soft enough to compress and grip, but not to soft that you destroy the material. The aluminum, and rubber parts feel of good quality and no strange smell. Its has 4 small magnets that have decent hold, but could be a bit stronger, or have magnets 50% bigger. Black plastic Jaw covers are made of a rubberized plastic, extremely high durometer. Kind of like a rubbermaid container material...Fully solid, and strong, flexible enough to compress slightly to grip. The shaped slots have been useful on my first use. Again no weird smell. Magnetic hold is decent., but less than the blue jaws....Wish there were (4) magnets spaces across like the blue jaws. The build quality leads me to think this should last for years. The Blue jaws are longer by 5/16" as in the advertised pictures. (5 7/8" overall); The black jaws need 1 1/8" depth, while the blue jaws need 15/16" depth to fit. Overall I would buy this again if I needed to. I paid $20 and I think that's fair. ... show more

    • Waste of effort
This product proved to be attempt to procure financial income only, not to service the consumer requirements. I purchased this item for an intended future use, upon first attempt it failed . Mainly because the magnets were under strength (too small). I was clamping an item towards the of the vise only, as I was applying pressure to the item, the unit began to shift within the vise because the magnets on the opposite end failed to maintain contact . The other issue I experienced from said operation the rubber pads were sliding out from within the track system. The finished the task my devising an alternative gripping system without damaging the work piece; leaving vise marks. Aesthetically they were great at achieving that, functioning not so much. ... show more

Curious how "soft-jaws" were so hard to find in the brick and mortar world. A wasted Saturday for me looking for them. Even Harbor Freight didn't have them, nor Ace, Lowes or Menard's.. So, once again, I shopped on-line. It worked-out especially nice as the wife immediately zeroed-in on the black plastic set for her craft workshop and I took the blue aluminum set for the workshop here at our warehouse (as shown in the images.) ... show more

I finally broke down and got a Costco brand workbench with a nice wooden work surface. After researching the vast array of types and sizes, I purchased a nice 5 1/2" Wilton vise from Amazon to mount on this workbench. Then comparing and researching jaw protectors on Amazon, I selected this particular model. Most notable complaint on all the jaw protectors in my research was the magnets were too weak to stay on the jaws during work operations. Finally got to test this product when working on my motorcycle carburetor, which needed firm plastic surface to grip and protect.     • magnets are weak
I do like the WorkPro vise jaws pads. What I don't like is the week magnets that are suppose to hold these onto the vise jaws and the pads should also be a bit wider to cover the vise jaws completely. The way their made its not wide enough or high enough. update 1/15/2022- After using these for a month now I am sorry I purchased them. They keep falling off the vise because of the weak magnets and they are not wide enough to be useful in holding stuff in the vise properly. Much room for improvement. To be honest I would rather pay a bit more for a quality product than save a buck for a product that is almost not worth having. ... show more

    • Much Better Than Expected
I purchased set of jaw vices for a 5-1/2" Yost 855-D2 vice. The sets measure 6", so sets provide 1/4" added protection on each side when centered. The NON rare earth magnets are "strong enough," and can be scooched as needed when clamping a project. I have not any issues with them being accidentally knocked off. The pads are made of really nice and appropriate materials. The flat (diamond pattern) pad appears to be hard rubber, similar to a car tire. Hard, but soft enough to protect your work. The grooved jaws may be a similar material, rubbery, but possibly lean more towards being a Delrin like material. - What ever they are, both are really nice. I expect a long service life from both sets. ... show more

    • This set with two different "soft jaw" sets exceeds my expectations
For a number of years, I wanted to have a soft-jaw set for my own vise. I had a soft-jaw set available in a shop where I worked for a number of years and appreciated being able to clamp softer materials or ones that could be marred easily by pressure in the vise. Ever since then, it has been on my mind to find and purchase a set. None were available anywhere I looked, locally -- not even on special order.     • Not very versatile
The blue aluminum magnetic jaws are nice but will not work on a 4” vise. The magnets are set too low to engage the steel jaws. The black magnetic polyurethane jaws work very well due to the magnets being centered in the horizontal plane of the jaws. The blue aluminum magnetic jaw magnets are set too low.
