Whimsical, indeed. It just brightens the room. I used the decals in my " put on/take off our shoes" room. My townhouse has a somewhat weird floor plan. There are two empty spaces/semi-rooms between the kitchen and living room. I supposed you can use them for a small dining room or den or something. Pick one :) I followed directions and cleaned my walls before applying the decals. I took my time in doing so. I think it took 30 minutes. I didn't mind. I enjoyed doing it. It's fun! Don't hurry because if you are not paying attention and after you peel the decal, it will stick on itself or other decals. It only happened a couple of times and I was able to un-stick it and place it on the wall. The decals came on four rolled up sheets that included directions on where to place the decals on the wall.
