Description

Produce and maintain prefect fingernail, and side grind, profiles on spindle and bowl gouges. The new Vari-Grind 2 offers "side restrained action" to keep the tool safely centered on the wheel, eliminating the chance for slipping of the wheels edge. Sharp, consistent profiles are easy because the tool rotates about the center of the adjusting rod allowing maximum flexibility, not only in matching a profile but also in creating your own. Offered here without the base.

  • Good add to sharpening
Great for sharpening swept back gouge

  • Learning curve
Great product but have to set by trial and error to get grind needed.

  • Great product, but...
The product itself is worth five stars, but I'm giving it only four stars because the instructions are not clear. It came with a DVD, which is helpful, but there are still questions. It does a great job grinding my gouges, making it fast and repeatable, once it is set up.

  • Very easy to use
Very easy to use. Will turn every novice into an expert sharpener. If you like to touch-up your edge quickly during a turning project so that you can turn with razor sharp tools, this is the way to go. I recommend that you record (write down) the settings you prefer for each tool so that you can quickly reset the jig. Don't press hard when sharpening. Don't rush it. Use a Low Speed Grinder. I sharpen with a, 8" 120 grit Low Speed wheel. Once you have your angles and settings (rails, foot, etc.) recorded, it literally only takes about 20 seconds to reset for a touch-up. Well worth the investment. ... show more

  • Does a great job
Does a great job on bowl gouges with their difficult grind - this makes it a relative snap. To be used as an accessory to the main Wolverine jig.

  • The mounting shaft for the jig is included. It is not shown in some of the pictures.
It is well built

  • Vari-jig 2
Don’t waste your money, no instructions with it. It sets up and is used different then the original. I bought it, tried it once or twice and now it collects dust. Don’t get me wrong has some things going for it but lack of any instructions is it’s downfall. Like the way it locks the tool in place. On a stone, not my CBN wheel, the original jumps all over the place on a freshly dressed stone, so not allowing that to happen would be a good thing. ... show more

  • much faster with this
my setup time is so much faster and the repeatability is so much easier for various gouges. much better than the Vari-grind #1 that I first used for about a year. it worked fine also but the #2 is a big step up and just plain and simple makes life easier. they both have their uses and I still use both. ... show more
