  • Great value monitor
Style: 29" 1080p 120hz 21:9 GNV29CB
I bought this monitor because I needed something larger than my laptop display, and something that would make multitasking a lot easier, as I am a student and professional. I ordered on Tuesday, and after being told it would take a little over 2 weeks to get to me, I was floored when it showed up on my doorstep on Saturday. Right on! Getting it set up was a breeze, as the stand only takes two screws to assemble it to the monitor. My particular unit is the 29" UWFHD with 120Hz refresh rate. For a cheap monitor, I am absolutely blown away at the performance. It is plenty bright for my usage (home office), the color is better than what was on my laptop display, and it can actually run at up to 200Hz with the proper hardware. My GPU is only a GTX 1660Ti and I only have HDMI on my laptop, so DP and 200Hz doesn't work for me, but I don't care. I play mostly single player RPGs and racing games, and the monitor keeps up perfectly. No tearing or dead pixels or issues like that. When I upgrade my machine, I will likely buy another VIOTEK. 8 month follow up: I got a new setup a few months ago and have since been putting this monitor through its paces. Specs: ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II | AMD R9 5950X | RTX 3080 | 32 GB 3666MHz RAM | 2x1TB M.2 SSD by SKHynix | Due to the specs of my computer, I am constantly exceeding the maximum fps this monitor can support, which is no biggie. Of course, I would like to get a new one, but this one still works just fine. I find the 1200R curvature to be really nice for gaming in particular, since I mostly play first person games like Cyberpunk, Halo MCC, Fallout 3, NC, 4, 76, Skyrim, ESO, Doom Eternal.. For other third person games, I still really enjoy it. The Witcher 3, GTA V, RDR2, Forza Motorsport/Horizon all look pretty good for a ~$200 monitor. I tend to sit relatively close to the monitor when gaming, so I occasionally notice a screen door effect with the 1080p resolution. Using DP 1.4, I've found that the max refresh rate is 120Hz, but I may not be able to find where to possibly overclock the display. The stand is super meh, offering little to no tilt, pivot, or height adjustment. It does have a VESA mount though, so if that's your thing, you can do it. TLDR; Great value for money, stand sucks, color accuracy is okayish, it's 1080p so your PC should run it just fine, 21:9 aspect ratio is wonderful. ... show more

  • 21:9 on a budget
This monitor was purchased when I built my gaming PC and it was the only 21:9 144hz monitor I could afford at the time. Well this is actually the second one, Amazon had to ship me a new one after two weeks due to the first one having dead pixels. Second monitor has been fine with no dead pixels or actual issues. The main point of this review is to tell you about viewing experience and the panel in this monitor. So when you get this all setup youre going to want to change the preset to movie no matter what youre doing, this preset brings out the deeper colors and brightness because all three of the "gaming" presets just make it looked washed out and flat. To that point 2560x1080p at this resolution will cause text to look more grainy if youre used to 1920x1080 or 2560x1440p. Also dont use the super resolution on the monitor to force highers resolutions as it makes everything look super grainy and panel wont display it with any kindness. 21:9 costs a pretty penny but its like a drug to me now and I have a hard time moving away from the format but the step up in quality comes with a steep price, I got this at the time for 320 USD and Samsungs 21:9 3440x1440p 144hz is about 1000 USD. Its a great starting point for people who want to try 21:9 or just want a 144hz display but it wont have the sharpness of higher end panels or the color richness but you just cant beat the sweet, sweet UltraWide 1800R curved at this price point. ... show more

  • Initial impressions: 8/10 but 5 stars for my usecase
Style: 29" 1080p 120hz 21:9 GNV29CB
I have a 29" desk to standing desk converter. I didn't like my dual screen setup, so I shopped around for a few months to find a ultrawisde unit that was under $250. I had a few criteria: 1080p 120 Hz 3000 contrast ratio minimum This monitor popped up on my eBay and Newegg recommended lists. I purchased it from Amazon because they have a solid return policy, but the price difference between sites was minimal. Packaging: Thick foam to protect the monitor. Unless excessively rough handling, this monitor would get to your door undamaged. Came with setup instructions, screws and a screwdriver, as well as a DP 1.2 cable. Setup/Initial Impressions: Literally 5 minutes and it was on and rocking. I have an AMD graphics card so I enabled Freesync from the monitor menu and switched to 120Hz refresh rate in Windows. The panel itself had no dead pixels. The colors out of the box we're washed out, yes. But after less than 10 minutes of fiddling with the settings and I found a comfortable color level that gets rid of that washed out feeling. I had to turn down the brightness too, seared my damn eyes off the bat. Why 5 stars then if it isn't perfect? Because it offers a good amount of value for the price. You will not be disappointed if you want a great productivity monitor. Gaming on this guy is wonderful, a vast improvement over my old 22" 60Hz monitor. It looks so clean and minimal as well, should fit nearly any room aesthetic. For $225, feel confident in your buy. I'll keep this review updated if issues arise and how Viotek handles it. ... show more
