  • So much more comfortable than a traditional sling
After shoulder surgery, I have to wear a sling with abductor pillow for at least 6 weeks. The sling I was given by my Dr was ok, but the pressure on my "good" shoulder from the sling was uncomfortable. I saw this sling on Amazon and showed it to my surgeon and he said it would be just fine. It's so much more comfortable! As long as you take your time to put it on correctly and get it adjusted for your body the first time, it is super easy to take off and put on. I've seen a couple reviews saying the velcro didn't hold up, but I'm not sure how that's possible, aside from ripping it off multiple times a day causing it to fail. The velcro is very strong, as it is meant to be put in place and left alone. The buckles are easy to open and close so you shouldn't have to mess with the industrial strength velcro. ... show more

  • Not fitting a short person. Terrible
Terrible problems from the start. Staps in the wrong places for a woman. It cuts into my breaststroke and the strap that goes around my chest is too short. I am a 5' 2" woman with a 41" back. The straps cuts into me and painful. If you are a tall thin male then it would be better. I should have paid more and perhaps the "DONJOY , $169.00 may have been better for a woman. Hope my measurements helps. ... show more

  • Shoulder harness takes the pressure off my neck
The sling pocket is a little short, barely reaches wrist. The shoulder harness is great, the regular sling was really cutting into my neck. This sling saves me from the neck pain The ball was missing

  • Velcro wore out in a week
Abductor slings are not comfortable at all. It doesn't matter what brand you buy, the piece of foam between the sling and your body cuts into your arm and makes it really uncomfortable. Especially when you lay back to sleep the entire band around the inner arm and the back of the arm cuts into it. I've even put velcro padding in there and it's still does this. One night it cut off my circulation and lymph flow so bad that my hand was swollen two times the size and my whole arm all the way up to my pectoralis muscle. The large foam spacer is very difficult to deal with when you try to semi recline or lean back in a chair because it doesn't adjust position and just then starts to cut into your skin. There is no give and there is a red piping that really cuts into your skin all the way around. You have to endlessly try to open up the Velcro tabs and try to move it or readjust it but let me tell you, I have spent 3 to 4 hours at a time each night trying to get this thing to be comfortable. That being said it's the same with all abduction slings. I have only had it for one week and the velcro has already worn out. I had a shoulder replacement a week ago and I am supposed to wear this thing for 2 months. I do not feel confident or secure that this is going to support my arm without flinging open and having my newly replaced shoulder fly out a joint. There is no way to contact the seller at all to discuss these tabs, I would have been happy to have them send me new tabs for all of the straps. So since I cannot contact them I had to send for a replacement one which I do not have yet, and suffer with this one in the meantime. The other thing is that I have a very small arm and this does not seem very long enough to support my hand or wrist. At night time when you relax and you are dead weight in your arm, there is no support for your dangling hand which will wake you up in intense pain due to the neuropathy of it hanging over the edge as well as The severe aches and pains you get from it blocking your blood flow. The only good thing I can say about this one is that the strap goes around your good shoulder rather than around your neck, and that's why I bought it. I am trying to somehow solve this so I can can continue to use it for this reason. The abductor slings that go around your neck not only have all these problems but they also pull on your neck constantly. If you have spinal stenosis and herniated discs in your neck like me, those don't help either. See the attached picture where the tabs just fly open and your arm could easily fly out of that sling. Also the major strap that goes across your shoulder and attaches to the sling is very unstable as well and has become opened and my whole arm dropped down once. ... show more

  • Difficult to put on without help.
This is well made and very supportive, but useless unless someone helps you put it on.

  • So very helpful after rotator cuff surgery!
We definitely recommend! We bought this to use post rotator cuff surgery (full tear) and the surgeon supplied bolster sling left my husband with a very sore neck. He’s in week 6 of use, and the seam around the bolster is starting to come undone, but was easily fixed with whip stitching. We’re so happy to have found this and not have to paid a small fortune to have it (some similar products are a much higher cost). My husband is average size, and has had no problem with the length of the sleeve— all other pieces are adjustable. ... show more

  • No.
My husband had rotator cuff surgery 3 years ago and we purchased a sling on Amazon that was amazing. This time - that particular sling was no longer available and we had already given the other one away so we had to search for another. We found 3 on Amazon that were rated very well. Out of the 3 - this was the worst one. It doesn't not feel steady at all (the velcro or the straps). It is just flimsy and not suitable for someone who has rotator cuff surgery and needs to be immobilized. *Note the one we picked was light blue straps with orange and green circles on the straps near the non-surgical shoulder side. I don't think it will let me list names here - but if it does - it was Velpeau. ... show more

  • Finally! An arm sling that doesn't add insult to injury !!!
Ahh, what a relief! So much more comfortable than the one I wore home from the hospital. It's a little cheaper quality but feels so much better. It doesn't dig into my neck or compress my elbow : )
