  • High Quality & Works Well
Style: AX1800 | Outdoor
I work in networking and a lot of the stuff on Amazon is cheap crap that doesn't work as advertised. This isn't. It works well, is exceptionally easy to setup, secure, durable, and maintains high stable speeds over long distances. I've bought multiple of these.

  • Omada is a great system and these are great APs
Style: AX1800
I run a small MSP and I've been a big fan of the Omada system for a long time. I bought these for an installation at a small business recently and the coverage, speed, and reliability is top notch. If you're looking for a great small business network I'd highly recommend Omada products.

  • Perfect for setting up a dedicated wireless video streaming network (home)
Style: AX1800
(Note: this review is geared toward home consumers with a single unit in mind, not businesses) I have a router from my ISP that has wireless and wired ethernet ports that I've been using for the last few years. Lately, after I'd added yet more 'smart' bulbs and plugs and audio streamers to my network, I noticed that my Chromecast was having trouble keeping up, no matter how low I set the picture resolution (kept running out of buffer). At first, I thought it was the streaming device itself. On a lark, I ordered this up, figuring that the Chromecast might run better off an ethernet port with a WAP connected to it (that's 'wireless access point'; get your mind out the gutter... lol). Sure enough, with this installed, and the Chromecast reconfig'd to use the new WAP as its network... all latency problems are gone. Meanwhile, my old existing network is now free to handle the rest of my traffic, without the Chromecast choking to death. Tests via the 'stats for nerds' within Chromecast showed a speed bump from maybe 2K bps, to 10K bps through the ethernet connection. No more buffering problems whatsover, even at 1080p. Setup is fairly easy. The manufacturer has a phone-based app that can do the setup and control. Just note that when it starts up, it defaults to the non-consumer setup. Switch it over, and with the WAP powered on (and your phone connected to your home network), it will discover your WAP. However, you'll still need to enter the 20-character SSID that's on the back of the unit, into the app. That's in small print, so you'll want a magnifier--or, better yet, also record it (phone, paper, etc.), so that if you ever need it again, you'll have it. These are designed to be mounted high up -- ceilings or walls. The unit comes with a wall wart (unless you connect this to a PoE-enabled device, you'll need this). It does come with a mounting plate. I haven't mounted mine yet; it's working just fine as I'm testing it out before mounting. Except for that minor issue with the control app, having to switch it over every time you start it... the rest of this turned out to be a great solution to my issue. Yes, I paid $100 for a WAP (again, NOT what Cardi B sings about), but that's cheaper than upgrading my internet service with a higher fixed cost every month, new equipment, etc. At some point, I expect the radio to go out in my router (this is what the 'wireless' is called, in hardware). But until then... this will serve just fine for my needs. ... show more

  • Standalone mode (repeater) works perfectly
Style: AX1800 | Outdoor
Really good as a repeater supporting 6 outdoor Ring units. Picked up the home WiFi which is 100 mbs and delivers 65 mbs outdoors., and one of the devices is 500+ feet away inside a shed. A+ for the money. But… This is a POE unit which means to set it up standalone you must have the POE injector, which is NOT an outdoor rated device. In my case I just shrink wrapped that unit for now. If that fails I’ll need an outdoor POE injector which costs more than this unit(!), or I’ll pull Ethernet through the wall. ... show more

  • TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor WiFi6 AX1800 Review
Style: AX1800 | Outdoor
This review is for the OUTDOOR model of the EAP610 access point from TP-Link... After running for a day, this outdoor AP is outstanding. Provides excellent range especially for 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz signals. Easily managed through TPL's Omada Controller, which is what I recommend for managing your TPL devices since it's cloud-based and has a modern user interface. The AP is IP67 waterproof rated, so it should withstand harsh outdoor environments. The newest firmware for this device is v1.0.6 as of this review - the EAP must be set up to be managed by the Omada Controller (v5.7.4) to get the firmware update. Noticed that other reviewers complained about lack of firmware, they are available (and easier to find and install) from TP-Link's Omada Cloud UI. I set this device up by driving a 1.5 inch diameter PVC pipe into the ground near the back of my house, for outdoor installation. I ran a Cat6 patch cable directly to the AP from a PoE+ switch located in the basement. The cable was routed through the inside of the PVC pipe, and out through the top. I used the included zip ties to attach the AP to the PVC pipe. I've attached a photo to show the device installed onto the PVC pipe. If you have a nearby tree or a wall surface, you can easily mount the AP using the included bracket. The area where the cable attaches is waterproof, covered by a clever cap that screws into the bottom of the AP. Washers and everything you need to mount the AP is included in the box. If you don't have a PoE+ capable switch, not a big deal...the EAP610 INCLUDES a PoE+ injector which is very nice if you don't have a PoE+ capable switch already installed. PoE+ injectors generally cost at least $25-$40 depending on which brand you buy. This was a nice bonus even though I don't remember it being mentioned as included on the product page. The only cable you need to run to the device is a Cat5e/6/7 patch cable, whether you use the included injector or a PoE+ switch. So how's the range? This is where the EAP610 Outdoor model shines. Easily transmits 2.4Ghz, usable signal, beyond 450 ft. 5Ghz is fairly strong as far out as 100 ft if there are no walls or obstructions between the AP and your wifi client device. I have a few solar-powered cameras in my backyard to monitor a chicken coop and rabbit pen, those cameras get 90% or better 2.4Ghz signal and they're easily 150 ft away from the EAP610. I've bonded smart bulbs, wifi cameras, phones, and streaming devices to the EAP610 and they latched on without issues. After running this device for 24 hours, there have been no drops, no loss of signal. This AP seems quite reliable outdoors. Time will tell as I live in a cold Western NY climate where wind and snow storms are quite common. We shall see how it holds up over time. At the $130 price point, this device is priced better than most of the competitor brands out there. Definitely recommend this EAP610 for oudoor wifi use especially if you live on a large property of over an acre. ... show more
