The media could not be loaded. I received this as a father's day gift from my family and I was very pleased with it. Works well and is holding up. I used this with an undersized chainsaw to see if it would hold up. It did. The set screws that hold the bar work well yet I used lock right blue to hold them in place when in use. Tiber Tuff TMW- 56 will help produce good lumber with 90 degree corners. To get the good results; -You must have the set up as precise as possible. It takes work but is what will help provide good results. Which requires a good straight edge board mounted straight and flat the whole length of the log. A saw chain and saw that will cut straight. A sharp chain. After all that it will still require very consistent pressures to keep the guide flat on the straight edge and proceeding to keep the saw blade from moving side to side which is related to keeping the guide flat. WARNING- Milling the five 8 in. x 8 in. x 8.5 ft. logs you see in the photos is very hard on a saw the size of a MS 250 Stihl (18 in. bar). I damaged or ruined a comparable saw to the stihl in producing the lumber and had to finish the very last side with my stihl. So be sure to not over heat your saw or have a larger saw for large beams. IE. be mindful how long the saw is running at full as you cut the length of the log. ... show more

I have used this to make some very fine 6x6 inch posts out of pecan logs. It is best to have a chainsaw with at least an 18 inch blade. I stared out with a 14 inch one, and it often did not cut through the entire logs.

I'm able to get fairly clean, consistent boards from using the Timber Tuff jig. However, it took a number of changes to make it work well. First and foremost, the set screws on my guide were ineffective. The directions warn you not to overtighten the screws or it will crack the c-clamp. I tightened them until there was absolutely no movement, but 30 seconds into cutting my first board they slipped and dulled my chain. I don't think the slippage was dangerous, but I don't want to have to sharpen my chain after 30 seconds of cutting. I followed their other option and drilled two holes through my bar using a titanium nitride bit. The process was easy, especially since I used the c clamp as a vertical drill guide, with the set screws holding it in place. But that led to my last problem. There's only a tiny amount of clearance to put the nuts on the bolts through the bar. I ended up cutting off one end of the c-clamp with a hack saw and now it works great. But it took a significant amount of effort to get there. Also, please note, that while the jig itself is sturdy, the bar of the chainsaw still has some play. after reading reviews about how the "pinch" bolts don't hold the bar very solid, I decided to drill my bar. trying to put a bolt through the bar and squeeze a nut between the bar and the other side of the pinch point is NOT easy. probably cutting off the outside of the pinch bracket would be the best. The device is heavily built. It came with NO instructions at all. I looked at other products online to figure out how to put it together, and then guessed at where to drill the bar. it is "helpful" for cutting a straight slab but easy to get the bar tipped left/right. there are some set screw like things on the platform, maybe one could use that to keep the saw from tipping (since there are no directions, no idea what it is for). the advantage of this type of mill is that you can slice a log that is wider than your bar. You cut down as far as you can, then remove the mill and finish the job. also good if you are slicing just the side off. I will continue to use it, along side the other, more popular alaskan type mill ... show more

I own and have used an Alaskan mill for a couple years now. However this guide is a game changer. It is simple to set up and use right out of the box. It simple works and works well for that first cut on a log. I was very skeptical but now am happy to sing its praise. In addition to the first cut, I have been able to cut a few boards off the log. It takes a bit of care to make a smooth cut but it will perform. Moreover, this tool should come standard with an Alaskan mill for making that first cut. It saves a lot of time and frustration. Get a good 2x4 or 2x6 and be impressed by the results. It fits well on these dimension lumber and slides smooth. I had no trouble keeping it attached to the chainsaw bar even after a couple hours of use and by then its time to sharpen or change the chainsaw blade any ways. ... show more
