View larger.No-sway, No-Hassle FeaturesTrunk mount carriers do not require a roof rack, are easy to install and offer easy access to bikes. This makes them common, especially with new cyclists and families, but they can also be one of the least stable and awkward options on the road, sometimes leading to bike-on-bike and bike-to- vehicle contact and presenting problems with parking. The Thule Passage Bike Trunk Mount Carrier does away with these issues with its no-sway, no hassle usability. It quickly secures to trunk and/or hatchback seams with multiple straps just like other carriers in its class, but also contains unique setup features. The first of these is a wing adjustment knob and FitDial combo with recommended numerical positions for specific vehicles. This limits the trial and error in how the carrier should lay against your vehicle. Once this optimal fit position is confirmed it is locked into place with easy to turn wing adjustment knobs. Then there is the one-button connection feature for carrier arms, allowing for instantaneous installation, removal and maneuvering of the arms to the side then down and out of the way for parking situations with the carrier on, but empty of bikes. It also features narrow cradle arms, capable of holding a wider range of bike frames including smaller child frames. Most impressive though is the no-sway cage feature. Attaching and extending below each of the rubberized cradles that support your bike frame and attach to the carrier arms, no-sway attachments dramatically reduce bike frame movement front-to-back and side-to-side.Key FeaturesCarries up to 2 bikes (2-Bike model) or 3 bikes (3 bike model) on the trunk or hatchback of your vehicleSoft rubber cradles protect bike frame while holding it securelyPatented FitDial provides the perfect fit to your vehicleArms twist to the side, then down when not in useNarrow cradle arms hold a wider range of bike frames including smaller child framesSoftCushion pads protect trunk and hatchAnti-sway functionality to prevent bike to bike contact during transitVinyl-coated buckles provide firm hold to vehicle and protect against scratchesSix strap system secures rack to vehicleWhat's in the BoxThule Passage Bike Trunk Mount Carrier, all necessary straps and mounting hardware, and instruction guide and warranty information.Limited Lifetime WarrantyThule will warranty all Thule brand car rack systems and its accessories manufactured by Thule during the time that an original retail purchaser owns the product. • Great frame, terrible straps
Style: 3 Bike
This bike rack was very easy to assemble and has some very clever features, such as flip-down arms and little plastic tensioners that keep the bike from swinging around. We purchased it it to carry our two e-bikes, which, due to their size, will not fit on smaller carriers. This rack would be 5 stars across the board if not for the terribly low quality straps and hooks that lash the thing to your car. They cut so many corners here and it hurts the quality of the carrier. 1: the hooks won’t hook unless they’re crazy tight, 2: the straps thread through the carrier frame so the same strap that holds the bottom of the trunk turns 90% degrees inside the frame to then clips to the side of the trunk. And 3: the tightening clasps are absolute garbage. They’re the kind of thing you’d find on a cheap backpack, and between the friction of this crappy plastic thing, and the friction and loss of mechanical advantage from the right angle, it is very difficult to tighten the straps for a secure fit. It’s going to aggravate you because the side clips will keep falling off while you try to tighten it. Terrible design. ... show more

  • Good but not great for paint finish
Style: 2 Bike
Bike rack itself is sturdy, and keeps bike in place well. Drive at highway speeds with no issue but it has one problem. The metal on the arms can scratch the paint if you’re not careful. It happened to me on third trip as shown in photo.

  • Installed carefully it works well
Style: 2 Bike
I bought this bike rack for a Kia Niro EV. It fits quite neatly to the rear, but you have to be careful to wrap some of the straps around the rack first to get a 90-degree angle on the sides of the hatch that you are attaching the clips to. Also, carefully wrap and tie the loose hanging ends of the straps. If you do this the rack fits quite tightly to the rear of the car. One downside is that you cannot use the rear wiper with this rack installed. Nor did I find the instructions, which have various settings depending on your vehicle, to be accurate enough. However, it is fairly trivial to adjust the rack to give it the angles that do fit well. Another bonus of the rack, as the Kia is a short car, is that it provides a decent tie down point when you want to carry long kayaks, rowing shells, or other long items on your roof. Given the short distance between roof rack bars, having an additional tie down point well to the rear of the car provides good additional stability. I have safely carried a 24 foot racing kayak on the top of my Kia, using this system. ... show more

  • Great product but NOT for all bikes!
Style: 2 Bike
I just installed the Thule 910XT Passage 2 bike rack on my 2012 Ford Escape. Assembly and installation was super easy, even for a "mechanically challenged" idiot like me LOL! Only one small problem that is certainly not Thule's fault... My men's Schwinn fits just fine onto the bike rack. My wife's bike, however, won't fit due to its design. She rides a woman's Cannondale without the top cross bar typical of "men's" bikes. Without that top cross bar, there's no way to get her bike onto the rack! Something to think about when you're shopping for a bike rack...we certainly didn't think of that (having never owned a bike rack before). We'll keep the bike rack. But it just means that we're just going to have to load her bike into the back of my Escape with my bike out on the rack whenever we want to go someplace with them. Total hassle and total bummer but, like I said, it's not Thule's fault! ... show more

  • Great bike carrier. . . but beware!
Style: 2 Bike
This is a sturdy, reliable bike carrier. I used it on three different cars (Hyundai Elantra, Chrysler 200, Toyota Prius) and had no problems with fit. I never had any problems with damage, either, except on my Prius where the top clip rubbed a tiny amount of paint off where the hinge for the hatchback is. And that may have been from driving through high winds through Kansas and Colorado. I did, as a matter of fact, drive with my bike on the back of the car back and forth between CA and KY with no problem at all of the bike coming loose--and that's including going through Utah where the speed limit is 80mph, and actually going that fast. Things I did notice--it really did decrease the fuel efficiency of my Prius. I normally get between 45-50mpg, but with this thing on, it was averaging 23mpg. That was very disappointing trying to drive across country. There is no way to lock the rack to my car, so that meant every night I stopped at a hotel, for security's sake, I had to take the bike off the rack. If you have to get into your trunk (which I did when driving the 200), that also meant taking the rack off every night, and wrangling it back on in the morning. It takes a lot of pulling and tugging to get it on securely to make sure it won't move--I think that's the key in having a secure fit. (And I'm an average sized female with not much upper body strength doing it all on my own, so it is possible.) The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I got pulled over in MO for it obstructing my license plate. The rack itself wasn't actually blocking it, but the post of the bike blocked a couple of numbers. Thule is aware of the problem (they put in the manual that it may block the license plate, but don't state this could be illegal), but have no solutions for it. I even contacted Thule support and their response was that since it may not be illegal everywhere, it's not their responsibility. They told me to go to an auto parts store. Well, I went to an auto parts store, 2 bike stores, and an outdoors store and no one had any real solution. Fail for Thule! They should be able to make some sort of adapter to attach the plate to the outside of the rack/bike. ... show more

  • Good Product
Style: 3 Bike
Bike rack appears to be good although I haven't actually taken it out for a spin. It was easy to assemble and mount on my car without any issues. I've used Thule bike racks in the past and this model appears sturdier than past models. Although I will say that I purchased this 3-bike rack for transporting 2 bikes. It seems difficult to mount three bikes without contacting each other. ... show more

  • Not meant for two bikes
Style: 2 Bike
Great product, sturdy, easy to assemble, but the places where your bike attaches to are not far enough away from each other so you can only fit one bike on it.
