Features

  • Add 1/4 cup (Negg capful) of water to the Negg. Add your hard-boiled egg and snap on the top cap.
  • Now you're ready to slip the egg out of its shell. SHAKE the Negg up and down with enough force so that the egg strikes the caps. Remember to take it a little easy, or you will end up with a slushy mess complete with shells.
  • Shake until you feel the shell begin to "soften" - approximately 4 to 12 times. Timing will vary. The body is clear so you can watch the progress.
  • When you see the white of the egg appear, you're done. Mission Accomplished. The egg will then slip out of its shell.
  • If the egg is a reluctant sheller you may have to break the membrane after shaking to get the shell to release. This can happen with extremely fresh eggs, and is not the norm.

I was quite skeptical of this, but it works amazingly well. Eggshells separate completely from the egg white, and then peel off easily. Sometimes, the shells are already completely detached at the end of shaking, and come off in one or two connected pieces. After eight months of regular use, the black tops and bottoms are not separating easily from the clear cylinder. I have found this tool to be incredibly useful when it comes to peeling multiple hard-boiled eggs, especially for recipes like egg salad. As someone who frequently prepares egg salad, I often need to peel 5-10 eggs at a time. However, I would not recommend using this tool for peeling just one egg. If you follow the instructions, which involve adding a small amount of water to the Negg and shaking it, the tool works exceptionally well. While the shell doesn't always come off completely in one go, it significantly simplifies and speeds up the peeling process. I have encountered some difficulties with the Negg when the eggs are either undercooked or overcooked. However, when I manage to cook them to perfection, the Negg performs well. Here's the method that has consistently worked for me: 1. Begin by bringing a pot of water to a gentle boil, avoiding a vigorous rolling boil. 2. Carefully place the eggs into the pot. 3. Allow the eggs to cook for approximately 15 minutes. 4. Immediately remove the eggs from the hot water and transfer them to an ice bath in the refrigerator. 5. Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for an additional 15-30 minutes. 6. Once the eggs have cooled to the touch, proceed to peel them. This egg peeler works pretty well. 90% of the eggs I put through it peel with no effort. Once in a while I get a stubborn egg, and I guess I cannot blame the Negg for that. I'll blame the chicken. 🙂 I can get similar results with just my hands, a countertop, and some water, but not nearly as convenient or mess-free as the Negg. Do I really need the Negg? No, but it's nice to have and I use it. ... show more

This device is the 3rd and final tool needed for the perfect trifecta of weapons against the hard boiled egg peeling war. I boil and peel a dozen eggs every week and i can easily peel my farm fresh eggs, laid the very same day. I start by gently tapping the wide end of the egg with the back of a spoon until i hear a small pop. I then boil them with one of those egg shaped egg timer things and then after lettibg them cool, i use the Negg with a bit of water and the shells slip right off. Love this thing!!! ... show more

Well, as seen on tv, is a bit of an overstatement of the ease and effectiveness of this little device. I still use it, but was a bit disappointed in the actual product. I would not purchase it again.
