Description

Canadian label We Are Busy Bodies announces the official reissue of the seminal 1959 album, The Fascinating World of Electronic Music by the Dutch electronic music pioneers Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan. In fusing jazz and experimental electronics, the album's playful compositions significantly predate other early renowned electronic music productions such as the 'Dr Who' theme, realised by Delia Derbyshire at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (1963), and Wendy Carlos' 'Switched-On Bach' (1968.) Adored by David Bowie and sampled by the likes of DJ Premier, Cyprus Hill, Klaxons, RZA and David Holmes, the music of Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan holds a prominent and influential position in the long and complex history of electronic music. 1. Syncopation 2. Intersection (Fantasy For Electronic Sound And Orchestra) 3. Drifting 4. Vibration 5. Song Of The Second Moon 6. Whirling 7. Mechanical Motions 8. Pianoforte

  • Great/unique/innovative/surreal/wonderful
Absolutely love this, if the title of this review is not enough of an indication. I continually find myself, when listening to this, thinking, “How did he do this?? Especially in 1959?!? That part sounds like Ummagumma/Olivia Tremor Control/fill in the blank….” This is at least 30 years ahead of its time, with its unique blend of outer space sounds, occasional jazz & horror movie soundtrack music. If you are an adventurous audiophile, you NEED this. On vinyl, it’s a warm weird bath with aliens. 👍 ... show more

Great, great, great album. There's nothing like 1950's electronic music. Can't replicate this sound. Perfect record.
