  • Definitely gives great wifi signal throughout the entire house.
Style: 2-4 bedrooms| MW6-2 Pack
Bought those to boost the signal to the back half of my home. It's worked exactly as advertised. I couldn't be happier with the results. It's very easy to set up and the app lets me control who uses my wifi perfectly.

  • I bought one for my daughter. Loved it so much I bought one for myself.
Style: Plug-in Design | MW5-3 Pack
First, I hope this review is helpful to you. I spend a lot of time reading reviews and end up just as unsure as when I started. So I hope this helps you make a decision one way or another depending on your unique needs. So, I have used the Google Wifi (1st Gen) system w/ 4 AP's for years and was very happy with it (or so I thought). When my daughter moved to a new apartment and needed a new router, I decided to purchase a mesh system for her since I already knew the advantages that mesh offers. I purchased the Tenda Nova MW5 (3 Pack) for my daughter's new 1200 sq. ft. apartment. I know that's a little overkill since it claims to cover 3500 sq. ft., but it was a good price and I wanted to make sure she actually got the coverage she needed as I was somewhat unfamiliar with Tenda, but had read good reviews. It was inexpensive and felt it was a good fit for her needs. I was VERY surprised at the power and range of these little devices. She has an excellent (and fast) WiFi signal everywhere in her apartment as well as the outdoor common areas. It requires virtually no maintenance and simply just works. She loves it. I had also started to notice that my 3-year old Google WiFi system that I purchased for $250 USD was showing signs of suffering a little (but nothing major). We live in a 3500 sq. ft., 120 year old 3 story farmhouse with an exterior barn about 25 yards from the house that I also want to have WiFi. I knew that the old Google Wifi wasn't giving me the coverage advertised, and in several far corners of the house the signal dropped off to virtually nothing (but I thought that was normal). The unit in the barn was also constantly disconnecting and then re-connecting hours or days later. So, I decided it was time to replace the Google WiFi system and see if I could do better. Because I had been so impressed with the Tenda Nova I had purchased for my daughter, I decided to buy one for my house too. I have a much larger home and different specific needs than my daughter, so I decided to purchase two separate Tenda Nova Packs. Since all Nova's work with each other, I was just basically expanding the basic 3-pack. I purchased the MW6 3-pack and also a MW5 2-pack. This gave me a total of 5 AP's, and I knew EXACTLY where to put them (a couple in those "dead-zone" far corners of the house to start with.) And WOW! What an immediate difference over the Google WiFi! Not only is the signal from the Tenda Nova 5 AP system super strong, but it's also super fast! I have a 400mbps down plan with Spectrum. With the new Tenda Nova system, I am consistently getting 275+mbps over WiFi (more than enough to stream video, use Facetime, etc.) wherever I go in my house. I also have a few devices hard wired to the main unit (one of the MW6's) via a Gigabit switch that all consistently get 400+mbps. What I was pleasantly surprised about was that I was also getting 50+mbps everywhere (including the furthest reaches) on my 2.5 acre property! I attribute this to the unit (MW5) that I placed in my barn. The barn unit is able to connect to 3 of the 4 units in my house (too far from the furthest AP, I think) with an "Excellent" signal. I think the combination of the barn and the other units in the house, because of where they're placed, have effectively given me a decent WiFi signal across most of my property! It's AMAZING! Also, for the tech geeks (I am one) that are going to jump into these reviews and talk about the features the Nova systems lack, and that there are better products out there... don't listen to them. Unless you care about some higher-end features offered by the more well-known brands (at a much higher price point), then you're not going to miss them. Tenda knows who their target market is for the Nova series, and they've made a GREAT product that appeals to that market and performs better than some of the higher-end products (like Google Wifi, Linksys, etc.). I'm just at a point where all I care about at home (I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for a work environment) is the ability to stream content from my streaming services, play some online video games, connect smart home devices, and surf the internet. I'm not trying to transfer massive amounts of data over WiFi. I also don't want to have to think about re-booting my router all the time (you can set up auto-reboot in the app) or really having to do any maintenance on it. I just want it to work. And the Tenda Nova series does just that. If you're a hardcore gamer, or need massive WiFi bandwidth for some reason, this system is not for you, and you shouldn't even be considering it. But if you're the average person/family that just needs a decent connection with great coverage for multiple devices, then you should definitely consider the Tenda Nova series. It's great for homes from 1000 sq. ft. to 6000 sq. ft. and Tenda has options to fit those needs. At this price point, I can say definitively that for the average user, the Tenda Nova Series is a Google WiFi killer. I'm a convert to this fairly unheard of Chinese company. And I think if you give them a chance, you will be too. The setup is easy (via their app for iOS or Android), the system offers consistent and fast WiFi coverage, and the maintenance is easy. I highly recommend the Tenda Nova series. SPECIAL NOTE: I've seen several review stating that a system purchased didn't have the advertised features. That is a case of people not reading about what they're buying and then complaining about the product when they're the one that made the mistake. For instance, the MW3 model has 10/100Mbps ethernet ports (which is fine for many households that have 100mbps or less internet from their ISP), but the MW5(s/g/c), MW6, and MW12 all have Gigabit ethernet ports (which is great for homes with 100+mbps internet from their ISP). ... show more

  • Easy set up and works great!
Style: AX3000 Mesh WiFi 6| MX12-3 Pack
I had an old Orbi 5 system. So this is definitely an upgrade. I'm getting really good wifi speeds and direct connect speeds throughout the house. For the price, I don't think you can get a better WIFI system. The only complaint so far is that the darn thing keeps saying there is an update to the firmware even after I upgrade it. So that's annoying. I've reached out the tech support but no response as there is no live agent you can talk to. ... show more

  • Great product, but not perfect
Style: Plug-in Design | MW5-3 Pack
After two days of using the Nova configuration that I purchased, it’s mostly positive thoughts. My house is not large—approximately 1,600 sqft, two stories. However the family room on the first floor is on a slab with no second floor above it, and it has plagued me with WiFi issues. So, my main goal for this product was to provide more stable WiFi for the family room. My secondary goal was to have better coverage on my property as well so I can enjoy WiFi coverage on my deck or in my yard. To those points, this product has provided excellent coverage and improved the stability of my WiFi network compared to my old setup of a main router and Netgear extender. Pros: - the Smart Assistant feature is great for setting up devices that can only connect to the 2.4 GHz band (like my WeMo). The WeMo devices are totally different headache so don’t get my started. - extremely easy setup following the little quick start booklet that was included with the box as well as the app instructions. - no obvious handoff issues between nodes as I walk through my house. Cons: - the lack of LAN ports on the back of the hub. However, I repurposed my older router as an Ethernet switch which resolved that issue (I’m not very networking savvy, but YouTube works wonders on setting that up) - I definitely see a speed drop off. I’m with Spectrum and rated for 100 mbps download and 15 mbps upload (I think). I definitely don’t get those speeds when connected to the nodes, but for streaming Netflix, Hulu, etc., even if I’m down to 20 mbps, it’s still more than sufficient. - for some reason, the Tenda app shows that I am connected to a node further away in the house than the one I’m very close to. Not sure why it does that, but since my speeds and coverage are still adequate, I’m not overly concerned. - the node sizes are quite large, and if you want to utilize their built-in LAN port, you can’t have anything plugged into the adjacent outlet. I wish they had designed the unit to have the port on the side or top, but oh well. Hopefully it continues to provide stable, long-term coverage; however, if the product quality diminishes in the future, I’ll make an effort to update my review. Hopefully this helps anyone looking to purchase this product! Update #1 (6/1/20): After using the Nova MW5 for about 2-3 weeks, my only real complaint is the issue with my Echo Dot. While streaming my favorite live radio stations, the audio stream frequently stutters and drops. I tried reconnecting my Dot to the Nova network on the 5 GHz band, but the Dot reverts back to the 2.4 GHz band. My dot has line of sight to one of the Nova nodes so I’m not sure why there is an issue. What is even more odd is the regular Echo has no problems streaming the live radio stations. It’s still not a deal breaker for me for the price of this system but certainly disappointing. Other than that, the mesh network continues to operate well. Update #2 (6/29/20): I’ve noticed that my Belkin WeMo smart plugs will randomly not turn on some nights or not turn off some nights. The WeMos have been troublesome since I bought them (terrible software), but they were usually fairly stable once set up with my standard WiFi setup; however, on this mesh network, I typically have at least 1-2 issues per week. It’s frustrating, but I’ll still maintain the 4-star review due to the pros far outweighing the nagging cons. ... show more
