Description

Tele Vue Barlows: "An Optically Perfect Window" Properly designed Barlows do wonderful things. First, they amplify power while retaining the eyepiece's eye-relief. Second, they slow the telescope's f/, which improves eyepiece sharpness. Third, the designer can introduce compensations for eyepiece aberrations. Tele Vue's 1 1/4" 2x and 3x Barlows were envisioned as magnification windows. Multi-coated high index glasses assure optimum aberration correction, exceptional contrast and virtually no light loss. Tele Vue Barlows achieve their design goals even when tested by the fastest scopes. The Tele Vue design approach includes mechanical conveniences. The Barlows are parfocal with Tele Vue eyepieces. The 2X Barlow is threaded for 1 1/4" filters.

  • Excellent Barlow
Got this to replace the celestron omni 2x Barlow that came with my first telescope (a Celestron 102mm Refractor). This barlow has a noticeably sharper image, i'm not sure if it's because of focusing or just my imagination, but the televue barlow is actually slightly more magnified then the celestron barlow. Construction quality is very nice. Overall very happy with this purchase and will be looking to get more Televue products in the future. The one issue I had with this barlow was the locking mechanism for the eyepiece. Instead of just a simple screw to hold the eyepiece in place, this barlow has a screw connected to a metal band inside the eyepiece holder. When you tighten the screw it tightens the band. This can be a bit tricky in the dark, and I had to stop and reseat/adjust the band a few times after switching eye pieces. Fortunately i've gotten used to using the locking mechanism and this problem has gone away, but it can be tricky at first! ... show more

  • Very clear glass. Great build quality.
This works great. I have a 40mm plossl by tele bur and the combination is incredible. One of the best attachments I’ve ever bought.

Nicely made, and it includes a leaflet that explains several aspects of choosing telescope eye pieces. A smart touch is the "Powered by Tele Vue" sticker you can put on your telescope.

  • Improved the color of Jupiter, interestingly
I'm new to using a telescope. I have a 5" Newtonian reflector made in China, with some lower-cost eyepieces. Not only did this Barlow improve the magnification as expected without causing any other issues, it also distinctively improved the color of Jupiter. I don't understand why. I don't usually give 5-star reviews unless something exceeds my expectations and this did -- by somehow making cheaper optics look better in an unexpected way. ... show more

  • Tele Vue does not sell on Amazon.
Avoid this seller at all costs. Ordered a Tele Vue 2x Barlow for $134. Received Nikon Binoculars instead. I returned the Nikon Binoculars and they refunded me $10.17. This is illegal. I will be contacting Tele Vue as well as the Attorney General.

  • You get what you pay for
It's Televue! What else can you say? The best most high quality lenses you can own. The four element design is miles better than a normal 2 element design. Spend the extra money, you will not be disappointed.

  • Top notch
I always start out with oh this won’t work well but , I was proven wrong big time . I can not believe how close I’m able to see the surface of the moon and orions nebula I have an ad12, any eyepiece I put in it from 20mm to 6 with wide eye relief made this a view to remember. I can’t wait till Jupiter , Saturn and Mars are in view again in the night sky I’ll post pictures. ... show more

  • Way Better Than Celestron. Highly recommended!
If you must have a 2X Barlow lens this is the one to buy for great eye relief and crystal clear clarity. Switched from Celestron and was gob smacked at the difference! I’ll be replacing every Celestron lens I have for Televue’s. Highly Recommended.
