I use the tap xr with my augmeted reality headset, the Xreal air. You can find it on Amazon for like $300. Now I rarely have to take my phone out of my pocket. The Tap xr is quick and responsive. I recently purchased the TapXR for use with Procreate on my iPad. I went through the learning program pretty quickly and it worked very well once I got the hang of it. Then, I created a custom map so that I could trigger my Procreate commands with my left hand while I drew with my right hand. The Tap mapping tool is very easy to use, and it allowed me to assign each tap to a letter, string, hotkey or macro. I used tapmapper to assign my most frequently used drawing commands to simple finger taps, which has significantly increased my drawing speed when I am drawing on my iPad. Highly recommend for any digital artist looking to streamline their creative process or anyone who wants to streamline their digital tasks. ... show more

    • Fun idea with limited use.
It "works" but is unpredictable, particularly in Windows/MacOS. Okay on iOS, but I'm not sure what the use case is--maybe if you want to type with one hand while looking at your iPhone with the other during a mass-transit commute. Still, you have to learn the typing technique--doable but takes practice. As such, it is grossly overpriced. ... show more

I'm always on the lookout for gadgets that not only make my work easier but also add a bit of flair to my home office. This product has been a remarkable addition to my setup. First off, the packaging is wonderful. The box has that sort of soft, Apple product feel, and a magnetic opening that reveals two bands (a large and small) plus the charging cable and sensor. It also comes with a handy pocket alphabet guide that is the size of a credit card in case you want to take your tap alphabet on the go. Charging took about 30 minutes and was done via a USBC cable that has a magnetic cradle that holds the Tap in place. the whole setup is very sleek and looks good with my existing desk/tech setup. The instructions have you download an app called TapManager to pair and get started. This process was super easy, but did require an account creation. After a short update it started teaching me taps right away. I did a few lessons and exited out to play around with the other settings. There are a lot of unique customization options from the actual inputs to how you like to tap - but the real standout feature has to be the new airmouse. It feels like I'm living in the future every time I use it. I have seen other reviews complaining this feature is not available yet, so you do need to update the firmware to get access to it. Final thoughts: Tap has injected a new level of coolness and excitement into my daily routine. It's not just about getting the job done; it's about enjoying the process, and this gadget certainly helps with that.     • Large band is more of a medium
I really love the idea of this product, and think it is executed very well in its current stage, but there are areas that need to be improved before I feel comfortable using this as a productivity tool. In particular, the Large wristband is simply too small for my wrist, causing inaccuracies with the sensor – and I don't have nearly as large of a wrist as my father does. Additionally, the air mouse feature is just not usable, as the clicking motion requires too much dexterity, and I'm a very dexterous person. You have to swipe your finger quickly without moving the rest of your hand. My best luck was placing the cursor below and to the left of where I wanted to actually click to offset my hand movement. Tapping the index and thumb together in the intuitive sense doesn't register hardly at all for clicks either. There is no "desktop mouse" feature that was on the older devices which would be really HANDy. I also found it activating the air mouse feature too often when I didn't want it on, and not turning off when I wanted it off. Finally, there is no "full tutorial," which I think is a real shame considering the effort they've put into making multiple apps that make learning the alphabet very intuitive, but they fail to go over special characters and additional functions very well. None of the tutorials cover all of the default key mappings, forcing you to decrypt the key map page yourself. Again, a shame, because they make the rest of the learning process very easy to pick up. A few other gripes: there are no default keybindings for two wristbands, which I had assumed there would be since 2 bands seems like the most intuitive way to use this device. They have a webportal to make your own keybindings but it's not very intuitive to work with and some features they have a really nice in principle but lacking in execution. For instance, they allow you to keybind phrases, but there's a character limit, and all the sentences that I wanted to keybind were simply too long for the app. It sucks that most of this review is just talking about the negatives, but the reason I give this 4 stars is because it's still a really awesome device, that is obviously made with care and attention, and is very likely to keep improving in time. I think I would see more immediate use for this if I had a vision pro, but for the AR glasses that I use, the inaccuracies caused by the wristband moving around plus the airmouse being rather unusable just made the experience feel incomplete. I really have high hopes for the future of this product and think it's a great pick up now for someone interested in cutting edge gadgetry, but it's too fiddly for me to find a practical purpose for it right now. ... show more

The original was a great idea, but putting it on and taking it off was difficult. The TapXR solves this by making it far more wearable. It is as comfortable as wearing a watch or bracelet. Typing does have a learning curve, but the convenience of having a single handed keyboard is worth the work.
