Description

If you want to take your indoor training experience to another level, the Tacx Flow Smart trainer is an amazing, budget-friendly option that delivers excellent features at an outstanding value. If you haven't heard about Smart Trainers yet, they're revolutionizing the cycling world. No longer do you just put your bike in the trainer and ride. The Tacx Flow Smart is a fully interactive trainer that uses an electro-brake for resistance, allowing the trainer to respond to input from a computer or app like Zwift. The Flow Smart can reach a maximum resistance of 800 watts, and realistically mimic a slope up to 6%. The trainer itself is ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart enabled and with an ANT+ USB dongle (sold separately), you don't even need a cycling computer--the trainer connects directly to your home laptop, tablet or smartphone so you can use it with Zwift, Training Peaks, or other 3rd party training software. When the trainer is not connected to a smartphone or computer, it acts as a standalone Fluid trainer with progressive resistance, so when your speed increases, the resistance does as well.Features: Software Tacx apps & Third party apps. PC software via upgrade. • A bear to assemble.
Instruction manual is in tiny type and lousy. Easy to get the resistance unit in wrong place despite multiple tries. And the captured nuts sometimes fall out in attempting to assemble. Multiple chats with tech support. Almost sent it back. It finally got assembled correctly and unit calibrated. I now like it a lot with the Tacx training app and their extensive movies. That app should allow saving a ride midstream for those of us who are older and need to do rides in segments. The unit does vary resistance for slopes up to 6%… their more expensive units do more. Not a serious limitation. ... show more

  • Works ok, but bluetooth is spotty.
So far mixed results with the unit. About a third of the times I'm using it, the bluetooth stops working and shows as paused exercise, no matter if I keep pedaling. I have to stop the current session, unplug the unit, count to 10, plug it again and re-start. Perhaps it bothers me more than it should, but when I get into a groove, rhythm or however you want to call it, it annoys me to have to stop, get off the bike and do the whole rigmarole. I compare it to jogging on a treadmill and someone unplugging it for you. Besides that one issue, I like my unit. ... show more

  • Hard working fun trainer.
Nice trainer. A little tricky finding the correct bolt positions for the tire size on the bike but other than that not difficult to assemble. I’m using it for Zwift and the automatic adjustments to the resistance during climbing is the best feature. It really adds to the immersiveness of the experience. I hate indoor training but this trainer coupled with Zwift makes the experience something approaching fun. ... show more

  • This smart trainer works great!
This is my first smart trainer, but I have no complaints from it. The noise level will vary a lot depending on your tire you are running, the pressure in the tire as well as how tight you have the trainer clamped to the wheel. I suggest if you have a lot of noise to try to get the trainer specific tires or something with no tread on it and it will significantly drop the noise you will get from it. Sometimes pairing is awkward, but as is with all Bluetooth stuff, I can't speak for the ANT+ connection yet, but I will update that if I have any issues in the future. ... show more

Sturdy, well built, good road simulation

  • Best trainer / Budget
Compre este producto hace 2 años ya. Genial!. ... show more

  • You get what you paid for
The trainer was great at the beginning, but Quickly developed a grinding noice. Checking things out, I found that the casing around the brake unit had come apart at the joint, causing the fan inside to grind. Not too difficult to clip it back in place, but it was something I had to do before each ride. What I couldn’t deal with was the tension lever on the brake unit breaking after 3 months and 1500 Miles. I returned the unit to the seller (thank you, Amazon for taking care of that) and used my refund to go towards a Cycleops Magnus. If you’re not riding hard, this may be the trainer for you. It didn’t stand up at all for me, though. ... show more

  • Excellent value! Much better than I could have hoped for for the price.
I've been using this Tacx Flow Smart Trainer for a full month and I remain very impressed. I bought it chiefly because it was Zwift compatible and lo and behold, it works with Zwift perfectly. It doesn't have downhill simulation, but that's about the only feature that I'd be interested in as it seems stable, quiet, and accurate enough for general training. You definitely get a big bang for your buck with this trainer. ... show more
