I think that this book has a lot of positives for those who are interested either in the field of blockchain or have an interest in how blockchain can shape the world's supply chains. I enjoy the emphasis on blockchain applications and case studies (real-world systems that have been built) within manufacturing, food traceability, and a variety of other fields. Obviously, this book was written before COVID, so it is only mentioned in the foreword, but it has a striking impact on our present. The supply chain problems that are brought to light, are predictive of the current breakdowns in society that have occurred in this pandemic. Without giving too much away, this book takes the transparency, security, and universality of the blockchain and explains a variety of arenas which it could benefit, then shows applications that are in use (or being built) today. Even for someone that is in the field, it is interesting to think about the solutions and applications that are being explored today. I do wish that the authors could have gone into more depth into the problems, but at the same time, the added detail might confuse the topic itself. Side note. This book does not go into the technicalities of how blockchain works (generally a surface level understanding). This is a double-edged sword because it also makes it more accessible for those who do not have a technical background. ... show more
