My grandmother and I used to sing the song, "You Are My Sunshine," when I was young. While I thought this may have been something personal between the two of us, because of the prevalence of the jewelry about and around the song- I see that many others share memories in their life- that this song has touched them too, in some way. And while this ring, in particular, does not quote the song per se, it reminded me very much of the many designs out there that do. In fact, I have a necklace that I got when my grandmother passed that has some of the lines to the song on it, that have a flower that matches with this ring. So when I saw this ring since it matched the necklace- I thought it would look good worn together. However, my grandmother was not cremated- At least my maternal grandmother was not, who I got this ring in memory of. And since I cannot have her ashes with me, there is something else that I would like to carry- something that feels is just as important- especially since her grave is not one I can visit very often. Trips to her grave take lots of time for me- so I decided to put a little of the dirt from her grave in the ring, so I could carry it with me. Gravesites were important to my grandmother. Every year as a child I remember the trips we took back to her hometown every year- sometimes twice. They were trips that took several days- but they are some of the best childhood memories I have. So having some part of where she is with me feels important. On the side of the sunflower- there is a little screw that you can undo. A little screwdriver is included with the purchase, along with a little nice metal funnel that can help these particles get inside the ring. This is where you put the ashes (or whatever else you want inside). With these tools, the placement of particles inside the ring is fairly easy. If you look at my photos, you can see photos of the rings and all that is included in this order. I know I bought a necklace (different from the previous one I spoke of) for ashes from a funeral home when my grandfather passed years ago (and was the first of my family to be cremated)- and it was almost ten times the cost what you pay for here! While it may seem easier to have someone do this for you- you pay many times over the price of the jewelry and- I was told that putting the ashes inside was free. I guess funeral homes have to make a profit somewhere- but how much is too much a profit- when I look at the cost of the same type of jewelry online and think of what I paid.... I only wish I thought of looking for something in which I could place the ashes in myself- but at times when you are in such deep despair- when people tell you prices about things- saving money doesn't seem important. So, just keep in mind that you can buy your jewelry and do this yourself- when and if you are in this situation- of wanting to save something- primarily ashes inside jewelry like this (but there are other things- like I chose to put a small amount of grave dirt in mine). This ring is so fricking cute I love it so so much. Its way prettier in person and I don’t think the pictures really do it any justice, so I’m really glad I decided to order it with relatively low expectations only to find it now is one of my all-time favorite things to wear, and I own A LOT of jewelry. It’s also genuine, solid sterling silver and is marked as such. Very happy with my new piece to add to my collection. :D ... show more

I ordered a size 8 which is standard for me, unfortunately it’s a little too big. The order thing that doesn’t go well with an already large fit is the sunflower is heavy. So it slides off my finger way too easily. I’m still keeping it with no plans to return it I’ll tweak it for a tighter fit. Not sure how the gold plated sunflower will hold up over time. But if it wears before I expect it to I’ll definitely update. It is a beautiful ring though. It comes with a little mini screw driver to unscrew the screw in the flower to fill with your loved ones Ashe’s and a little cloth. Happy with the product but believe it may run slightly on the big side. ... show more
