I ordered this because my previous timer was intermittently failing to operate. This is a little more compact, so good on that. I use timers in several places in my yard--they never forget to water and do so even when I'm not there! I didn't have to read the directions because the timer is simple to set up. Turn the dial to the function, and set the start time, duration time, days, etc. Very easy. I like that the "manual" function is simply press a button. This is so a person can check the operation and flow rate for whatever is on the out end of the timer. The middle picture is where my timer is set up--on the ground in the yard. Not a good idea for these to get wet, so I have the timer covered with a large metal bowl with a brick on top. This timer I'm using with micro tubing to set off a little sprayer in my bird bath, every day for 10 minutes. which keeps the water full and fresh. A word of caution: if using (like I am) a hose between the water source and the timer, make sure it's a good strong hose because there will be water pressure on it at all times. So far, so good with this timer. No leaks, and goes off as expected every day. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these, and I can recommend it. ... show more

    • Easy Set-up
I normally dread setting up digital devices. The instructions seem always to start by telling you how easy it will be, and that’s usually the last easy part. So, I was happily surprised that this well-thought-out hose timer actually was easy to set up. The manufacturer thoughtfully includes Teflon tape so I began by wrapping all the threads on the hose and faucet connections. (Miraculously, my drippy hoses stopped leaking. Why did I never do that before?). Then I set the timer to go on for an hour in the morning and again in the evening seven days a week. All was well, but since it wasn’t either of those times, I couldn’t confirm that it worked. I pushed on the “Manual” button for three seconds and the readout offered me the option of turning the water on for 10 minutes. I hit “OK” and there it was — flowing water. After 10 minutes it turned off the water flow and resumed the automatic program. Perfect. The only negative is that the manufacturer did not include the necessary two AA batteries.
