But then I watched the video and tried again. Got a great seal to my sous vide ribeye. How long they will last is still to be seen, but at this price point it's what I expected. I wanted a reusable bag for sous vide because using my vacuum sealer bags seemed wasteful.

So first off I will but these again when they wear out but I have 2 issues with them. There is good points below. The first issue I have is these do not hold a dry seal. I have tried probably 5 different times on 4 bags and can not get them to keep the seal on coffee beans for longer than a day(my other bags work great but also cost like 3 times as much). Then you need the hand pump as the food saver pump does not work for it(maybe their electric pump will work but it's a nasty suction to get the valve/seal to break to start the suction). The good, These are super durable I have washed 8 bags 3 times each and they still hold a seal as well as the first time. These bags hold enough of a seal to keep freezer burn off steak and chicken. These take a min to get the seal started with the hand pump but it is pretty easy to do. Again I will buy these again just not for my bulk coffee beans/dry stuff. ... show more

Only had them for a few weeks, but definitely ordering more. I hate the waste of the vacuum sealer bags, and let’s face it, sucking the air with a straw works for just a little while. The pump worked great for me, some of the reviews stated that it wasn’t working… you have to get the valve open first,( by pumping it a few times in the perfect spot) you’ll hear a pop sound, then it works perfectly. They seal up nice and have been fairly reusable. As for the sealing pump, just keep at it! It will work just pump it like your trying to murder it and you'll hear a little pop, then it starts pulling air.

A little background into how I am using these bags; I recently got really into coffee and somewhere along the line I couldn't pass up any coffee I found that sounded even remotely interesting leading me to buy somewhere around 3 months of coffee assuming 2-3 cups a day. Thus my review is NOT ON HOW GOOD THESE ARE FOR SOUS VIDE COOKING, BUT THE QUALITY OF THE VACUUM SEAL. With that much coffee (although I did not have it all at the time of purchase) some of my coffee was bound to go stale. Enter 'coffee afficionado' and undoubtedly an expert, Hoffman. He swears that freezing coffee (assuming you have the right gear) tastes virtually no different than fresh. So he recommends vacuum sealed containers like mason jars, however my freezer is shared and we already do plenty of cooking so there is no room for such a thing. After looking around a bit, I find these sous vide bags. I purchase them in a rush to have anything to vacuum seal my coffee beans in and when they arrive I immediately divvy up my coffee into small doses, even for the larger bag sizes. So tl;dr: The small bags are the perfect size for me. I wish they offered more of them with this or another set of just small bags. The vacuum seal works like a charm. Two weeks after putting my coffee in, when I take it out to defrost, the seal is as tight as when I made it. The beans do not retain any moisture and they taste damn good. The pump takes way more effort than I'd like to put in, but the convenience of having a small pump over a large press, make this my preferred method. I may search for a hand vacuum (automatic) that fits these bags' valves. All in all, a good purchase. Will definitely buy more bags. ... show more
