it works. first of all this thing is tiny. maybe the size of your hand. not that bright. i guess if you just need a solar light and you needed it to work around areas where you can get sunlight in a certain area and run the light area to a place where there is no sunlight then yes this will help you out. so if you know you can use the length of the wire to get light in a area where sunlight is not possible then you can make use of this. i probably would not get this again depending on the situation. if you have direct sunlight in ALL situations then i would get something with high lumens. higher lumens = more brightness or so they say. i take that back on brightness. when it detects motion it is quite bright and covers a good area. depending on the height you install it. i installed it about 8 or 9 feet and it is quite bright for its small size. however if you constantly set the motion off it will use up the battery fast. 3rd edit: going to bump it to 4 stars. I said I wouldn't get this same model before but I bought 2 more. The biggest reason is convenience. I learned some valuable lessons during my solar light quest and I come to conclusion that the area you're trying to cover, height you install it, not expecting a street light from it and this item works as intended. During my solar lights quest I have bought one 600watt, 300watt, 150watt, lights slightly bigger than these, and now I have 4 of these. With that knowledge I now can focus these lights on a target area where I can simply zip tie these onto a fence and cover a smaller area where they will be very effective. If I could redo, I would have gotten 3 of the 150watt and 4 or 6 of these and have all the areas I needed covered. My point is make sure you have an idea of what you want to do and choose the right lights for that area and not make it do something it can't. For example I stuck this in a 10 foot pole and thought it would cover the front yard. Edit (4): after the winter storm last week of January 2023, somehow these still managed to come on after about 5 to 6 days of clouds, snow, sleet, and rain. I don't know if they are just battery efficient or they still managed to charge. 3 other different types of solar lights didn't come on or were extremely dim. Even though I have porch lights, when I bbq at night, the cooking surface is shadowed in darkness. I needed a light that could be directed directly at the bbq, wanted it hands free to turn on, and not to turn on when any racoon or deer entered our yard--we live in the forest. I mounted this light on the underside of the roof of my patio angled down at my bbq--this would limit what the motion detector would pick up. The solar panel mounted nicely on the sun side of the roof and the swivel mount made it easy to direct towards the sun. We have 21 mature cedar, fir and madrona trees surrounding our house and getting direct sunlight is challenging. The long 16' cord from the light to the panel made installation easy. I like mode 3, which allows the light to turn on full brightness as long as it sees motion. The light is positioned to catch motion when I walk up to the bbq. Lights are very bright. Great value for the price and well made. Kit comes with a remote, mounting brackets and screws. ... show more

I got this for my mom's front porch light went out. Rather than spending getting the lanter rewired and having to change out bulbs that now again attract moths. Or constantly having to plug 🔌 in the out door light, I went with this solar light. It's not very big but it's enough to light up my mom's front porch. With the different settings it's perfect. Have it on low 🔅 until someone sets off the motion sensor and it brightens up. And it shuts off during the day. No need to run up the electricity. ... show more

I installed one outside my barn, one inside. The one outside stays lit as expected I can see it from my house. The other didn’t provide the low light to my animals that I expected. I have the panel outside and the light inside. I understood that it would stay on low light until human detection then it would get brighter. But it is pitch black until I approach then it lights up. Kind of defeats the purpose since I can turn on the electrical barn lights when I am near. Still gave high stars because the other night the electric lights were shut off due to repairs on the well. I walked in the barn expecting to feed with my flashlight when the solar light popped on and saved the day. So I guess it works as designed. Just not the way I was hoping. ... show more

I used these lights for when I put my little dog out at night so she can take care of her business. She is a very small dog, but as soon as she comes even with the light, the turn one, and the brightness allow me to watch her. The only problem is the remote does not work unless you are in front of the lights. If you are already in front of the lights they will automatically turn on. I wanted to be able to stand in my house to turn them on, but now if I use the remote I have to go out into the backyard to turn them on. What a waste. If you don't need the remote, then these lights are great, but if you want a remote, keep shopping. ... show more

I installed both and so far they're holding up good in the cold weather here in NY. No complains, very easy to install, just take a Philips screwdriver or drill with you and that's it. And they put out quite a bit of light, enough to light the 70ft drive way, and works all night best if it's put on low with motion detection, then it comes on bright for a few minutes and then back to low light (24/7). So far glad I got it 😎👍🏼 ... show more
