  • Light Weight, Narrow Path, Battery Operated, Powerful and Convenient Use & Storage. Enjoy!
Style: Kit (w/5-Ah Battery + Quick Charger)
I live in Castle Rock, Colorado. It snows a lot here. Although I have a pretty powerful snow blower, like me, it is getting old and sometimes hard to start and to keep running. On those occasions, I have been relying on my good old snow shovel and personal stamina. At 69 years old this task is not getting any easier; however, it does help me stay in shape and gives me some exercise time burning calories that I monitor on my iWatch program when I feel the need to brag. The other day, I noticed a young man using a battery operated snow shovel that looked pretty neat and struck up a conversation with him. He said he loved the machine, but wish he would have bought an extra battery because he sometimes forgets to charge the battery and ends up pulling out the trusty shovel. I took his advice to heart and bought both this snow shovel and the extra battery in an effort to eliminate the trusty old shovel when the powerhouse snow blower in on the blink. I am glad I did because the battery pooped out before I finished the job on my first use before the second battery arrived and it takes 3.4 hours to recharge the battery. At only 11 pounds and a 7-inch path, this product makes it easy to remove snow from steps, porches, patios, decks and walkways, but it is not a snow blower. It works like a snow blower; however, in deep snow, you have to remove the snow in layers. It will stop if the blades get more than about 7 inches in the blade. It does blow the snow quite a distance and is much faster and easier than a regular shovel. I got a pretty good workout in my arms and shoulders the last time I used it because I had to shave off several layers of deep snow. Reading the safety instructions are a must before using this product. Rocks can become lodged in blades. In those cases, users must be mindful to remove the battery and wait for several seconds before putting fingers or tools to remove whatever is stuck in the blades. This is a powerful product that could easily amputate fingers of careless users. Additionally, the blade is made of durable plastic; however, unlike a steel blade snow blower, the concrete could eventually grind down the blade. Further, this product does not remove ice and does leave a little bit of remnant snow on the driveway and sidewalks that quickly melts in the sun. Unfortunately, I live on the south side (shaded) of the street where it takes longer to melt. Overall, I am very pleased with the utility of this product and it is well worth the price for me. Please use it safely and do yourself a favor and buy a second battery. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Save your back, it's worth it!!
Style: Kit (w/5-Ah Battery + Quick Charger)
Omg worth every penny!!! I had this on my wish list for the past 2 winters, while I suffered through a spinal injury + lifting the snow + dreading having to go shovel bc of the pain. My injury is permanent and I live alone while fiance is deployed. This year I hit "f-it" and decided to spend the money to save my back. Omg I love this thing, worth every penny, wish I bought it sooner. Dry snow it handles with utter ease, wet snow can be handled with a smaller pass or just going over again, but NO LIFTING SHOVELS FULL OF WET HEAVY SNOW!!!!! Thank you for giving me back a small piece of my independence (no longer asking neighbors for help), making snow fun again, and just being a great product. ... show more

  • Instructions very misleading on how easy this is to put together
Style: Kit (w/5-Ah Battery + Quick Charger)
Another reviewer posted what to do if you get this, so thank you (I think). The instructions would have you believe this is very quick and easy to put 3 poles together and done! It could not be more wrong. The power cord is too long out of the box. SnowJoe is aware of this, but apparently have not fixed it. If you get this, plan to disassemble the bottom pole from the base, pull the cord thru/down making sure not to pinch the cord anywhere and then re-assemble the unit. It helps if you have 2 people there. If you're not comfortable messing with the wiring, I would pass on this. As for the product's use, I found it was useless in heavy snow that was water logged. It did well in lighter, less heavy snow. Some things to be aware of with this: 1) Only blows straight. Depending on wind and how you maneuver this, could be blowing back into your face. 2) Battery did not last my full drive, would require 2 batteries to get the entire thing done. 3) It wasn't heavy, but it's not light either. I could see some people thinking it's too heavy b/c you have to use like a shovel. 4) It's not a snow blower, I know that's obvious, but if you expect this to act like a snow blower but smaller, you'll be disappointed. It's a shovel that has an electric part to it. 5) VERY narrow. The specs are listed, but I didn't realize till using it just how narrow this would be. My normal shovel is at least 2-3x as wide as this. I'll probably keep it around to do the apron and walkway quick in a light snow, but that's about it. It's a lot of work b/c it's so narrow. ... show more

  • Beware of cord
Style: Kit (w/5-Ah Battery + Quick Charger)
First and foremost it works... what I'm giving 3 stars for is the assembly and overall legth of the handle. From the instructions the assembly is rather simple... just connect the ends of the handle and your set... but what they fail to tell you in the instructions is that you might encounter the cord going through the centers of the pipe being to long wich very much impedes on attaching the poles together. To overcome this you have to unbolt the cover that attaches the lower pole to the main housing. With that unbolted you can pull the cord in to allow connection of the handle pieces. Have a helping hand when you do this as its a real pain trying to jugle putting it back together. Now for the overall length of the handle, I find it to short... I'm 5'8" tall and still have to stoop to push it. ... show more
