  • Awesome gaming PC for the price!
Style: Ryzen 1600 | 8GB | GTX 1050 TI
I've had this computer for almost a week now and I am in absolute love with it! The computer came packaged safe and sound (the computer box was inside a larger box that was foamed and secured), and setup was a breeze. As several others have mentioned, this computer is very soft and quiet. The previous PC I had was very loud, so this was a nice and welcome change! The glass case looks super cool and I've received lots of compliments on it! There was no bloatware installed at all. Just the usual Windows software, Google Chrome, and 7-Zip. Prime95 and FurMark were also preinstalled (software that is used for stress testing your CPU/GPU) for those who do overclocking. It does come with a built-in WiFi card (it's got antennas that screw onto the card from the back and can be adjusted). It also came with a free keyboard and mouse. For what it's worth, it's alright. However, it's not something that I would use in the long term. I have a mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse from Logitech that I use instead. At first, I had trouble deciding what build to go with. As you can see, there are three options (two with distinct differences, and one with just more RAM). I decided to go with the Ryzen 5 1600 and Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti build. I have listed some of the specifics below. Although the RX 580 is much more faster and suitable for gaming in the long run, I wanted the build with the better CPU. The Ryzen 5 1600 is a six-core CPU with 12 threads and has lots of potential for overclocking. The Ryzen 3 1200 is not bad by any means, but a 1600 will definitely last you for a longer while into the future. Since I don't usually play the latest releases right away (I'm buying this PC to be able to play Overwatch and similar titles), I was perfectly happy with getting the 1050 Ti (my previous desktop had the 750 Ti 2GB). In terms of performance, this PC is amazing. I am able to run games like Overwatch at 1080p, 60 FPS at max settings easily. There are no stutters or performance drops throughout the game at all. Likewise, games such as Rocket League and various MMO's I play run very smoothly as well. The only thing that is holding it back is the HDD. I upgraded to an SSD a few years back in my other computers, and the boost in speed and productivity in day-to-day tasks is huge. Boot times are super quick and games/programs load much more faster. I noticed that on my older desktop, I would be on the main menu screen for Overwatch within a few seconds of launching, ready to join a match. Here though, it takes a bit longer to reach the main menu and load the game's assets. This is only because the mechanical hard drive is unable to keep up with the rest of the computer. I haven't gotten around to installing an SSD on this PC yet, but that will be the first upgrade I invest into. If you're on the fence as to which build to go for, I would say that it depends on what you want from your computer. I would recommend the Ryzen 5 1600 with the 1050 Ti if you plan to play lighter/older games (like Overwatch, League of Legends, etc.) and use your computer for other tasks as well (video editing, rendering, etc.). The 1600 is much more suitable for such tasks than the 1200 and should be much more future proof, based on what I researched. However, if you plan to use this PC for newer/heavier games, you should go for the Ryzen 3 1200 with the RX 580, since the 580 is a much more stronger graphics card and will handle newer titles much better than the 1050 Ti. You may want to consider upgrading the CPU down the line however (upgrading to a 1600 would be about an additional $120 based on current Amazon pricing). Either way you go, I would absolutely recommend upgrading to an SSD for the reasons I listed above. You'll spend less time waiting for your games/programs to load and more time playing/using your computer. There is an M.2 slot in the motherboard, so you do have the option of going with an M.2 NVMe SSD instead (which perform even faster than SATA SSDs but are a bit more expensive). In the future, I do plan to upgrade the RAM 16GB, install an M.2 NVMe SSD (from Samsung), and swap out the 1050 Ti for something faster (I'm considering a GTX 1060 6GB). On a separate note, the build with the 1050 Ti only comes in red LED lighting. I believe that the only option with customized lighting options is the RX 580 build. Just something to keep in mind if that's something that matters to you. I hope this review helped! It's a wonderful PC and I truly could not be happier with my purchase! • Nice Computer, Poor Tech Support
Style: Ryzen 1600 | 8GB | GTX 1050 TI
My review is in two parts, the first part for the computer and the second part for tech support. First, the computer. It came double boxed in two sturdy cardboard boxes that were both sealed with security tape. The computer is housed in a sturdy black metal Thermaltake case, and all the fans have red LEDs. It's not a fancy gaming case but they don't enhance the performance of the computer anyway. The components in the computer are name brand. The motherboard and WiFi card are ASRock, the video card is by Zotac, the hard drive is a Seagate, the RAM is Team Go, and the power supply is by Thermaltake. If you are familiar with computer components you will be recognize these names. Performance is very nice and I'm very pleased with the computer. Now for the second part of my review, tech support. The computer arrived with the WiFi card not working. I called tech support on a Friday and was assured that a replacement card would be shipped that day, or Monday at the latest. After several days of not hearing anything from Sky Tech, I contacted them. After trading emails, my replacement card was finally shipped on a Friday, one week after my initial call to them. The card was supposed to be delivered the following Monday, but didn't show up. This was no fault of Sky Tech but with the USPS, they lost the package, TWICE! When I finally received the card, I installed it, booted my computer, and got the same error message in Device Manager, that the card wasn't working. Still no connection to my WiFi router. I decided to reinstall the installation software that came with the card. Unfortunately the computer doesn't have an optical drive so I couldn't use the included installation CD. I had to go to the manufacturer's website on another computer, download the installation software, copy it to a USB drive, and then copy it to the new computer. I installed the software, rebooted the computer, and the card now worked. I contacted tech support about having to reinstall the software and was told that the cards Sky Tech uses don't require software installation. Well, this one did. I suspect this was the problem with the original card and it wasn't defective after all. To sum up, I would recommend the computer as I feel it is a good value for the money, especially considering the name brand components that were used. My caveat is that if you do buy the computer, I hope you don't have to deal with tech support. ... show more

  • Very cost effective!
Style: Ryzen 1600 | 8GB | GTX 1050 TI
My first impression of this prebuilt pc was upsetting. I unboxed it and the pc turned on smoothly. However, there was no feed to my monitor. I tested my monitor with other systems and it was fine and so I concluded that the issue rooted in the pc. The graphics card was dislodged so I sent it back and ordered a replacement. The replacement came the next day and worked like a charm. The setup was quick and easy. Downloading software, programs, and applications is very surprisingly fast. Startup is fast, however starting certain applications takes some time. The pc stays cool throughout long sessions of gaming and performs very well while playing numerous different games. Intensive games like Fortnite (on low graphic settings) put out 75-120 fps constantly, while not as intensive games like CS:GO function perfectly. There is no disadvantage with Skytech's prebuilts. The support team is very responsive and helpful and ensures that they do not waste your time! Thanks to Skytech for providing a very quality build! Also, the parts in this pc are very good for the price of the overall rig, as well as the aesthetic. The tower is somewhat small compared to more expensive builds which provides for a neater setup. I don't have many cons except for the slow startup in certain applications, which I don't blame Skytech for, and the issue with the first rig. ... show more
