  • VERY GOOD - SOLID, FLEXIBLE HANDLE PLACEMENT, ACCURATE DIMENSIONS
Update 10/30/22 After a month of using the desk, I do have an issue with it and lowering rating to 4 stars. Still overall, a solid desk but the edge is a real pain. It is difficult to work with your forearms resting on the sharp laminate edge. It's not really sharp but enough to be a pain after a few minutes. So I used the foot adjustments to raise the back of the desk to slope in downwards in the front hoping it would alleviate the front edge cutting into my arms when I type. It helps a little but not enough. Original review: I usually find something to critique in everything. However, this desk is actually pretty good. A few things were really key for me. First, I wanted a manual desk so I would not be dependent on a power outlet and so I get at least some excercise. It would be a little ironic if I got a standing desk and then got power so I could save a few calories. However, there are benefits to the power. The manual takes a lot of revolutions to move the desk up and down. Second, it had to be sturdy. This desk is impressively sturdy. One of the key things I looked for was a stablizing cross bar. Most desks don't have it. This one has a double cross bar that is well designed between two brackets. Third, I wanted flexibility in where I could position the handle. This desk allows it to be positioned in 4 places. So overall, I am impressed with this desk. One thing that was not so good is the quality of the desktop. It is thin (between 9 and 10 sixteenths of an inch) with a cheap looking laminate. The corners are curved but the edges are not rounded due to the laminate edge. There was a scratch and small edge chip on mine but not a big deal. It is not too hard to replace the top. Also, I got the reddish color because that's all that was available - not a fan of the color. Final note - if you have noticed, the quality of listings in general is unbelievably poor. It seems no one cares to publish accurate information or even bother to provide correct dimensions or anything. Often, there is conflicting information in the same listing. This desk's dimensions were spot on and exactly what the listing presents in terms of the desktop's width and depth down to one decimal place. So I was very impressed and wanted to reward the seller with this note. ... show more

  • Seems Worth It So Far ***Updated 2 months later***
Color: Black Frame/Antique Top
Received the desk today. I chose a hand-crank adjustable desk versus an electric desk based on reviews that there are often problems with the electrical gadgets. It’s a lot of cranking to move it from standing to sitting and vice versa, but it’s definitely not difficult or even remotely sweat-inducing. I’m glad I have my strong 29-year-old son around to help put it together. I don’t enjoy putting things together the way I used to. Instructions were better than some, not as good as others, but we got it all figured out and assembled in less than an hour. The Allen wrench (hex key) which comes with it has a nice grip and is all you need for assembly (it’s probably one of the better assembly pieces I’ve seen in a kit like this). They also did a great job of packaging extra screws/bolts for each of the lengths (3 of them) - just in case. After attaching the top piece and beginning the first crank up, the right side was definitely going up more than the left side. My son helped tweak it, after bringing it all the way back down, and then it was fine. Also, don’t screw in the feet/pads too tightly at the beginning because after getting it all together, you may need to loosen one side or the other to prevent wobbling. I’m looking forward to using this desk because I sit, staring at computer monitors for 8 - 9 hours/day. I also got a foot massaging balance board and a dual monitor attachment to use with it. Note: the dual monitor attachment I purchased had horrible instructions, was probably more of a pain than the desk to put together, and came with the exact number of screws required (so heaven forbid I would lose one). ***Update 2 months later*** - I love this desk! I can’t remember a time when I had to sit all day. I now stand at least 5 to 7 hours out of my 8-hour workday. However, I wouldn’t be able to stand that long without the rocker/balance board I purchased at the same time. It makes quite a bit of difference, and I can’t imagine standing all day without it, just on a flat surface. I also have a small stool I slide under the desk while standing so I can put a foot up once in a while. I’m 5’11, and with standing on the rocker board, I crank this desk all the way up. I typically stand for the first 4 hours of my shift, crank it down at lunchtime, and then I stand again for the last 2 hours of work, leaving it cranked up overnight so it’s in standing position for morning. It’s a solid piece of furniture, and I’ve had zero issues with the crank to bring it up or down since the initial issue mentioned above while putting it together. I highly recommend this desk. ... show more

  • As advertised; good value for money
Color: Black Frame/Antique Top
Desk is of solid construction (nothing rocks, tilts, or shifts when force is applied) and is/works as advertised. Adjustment is easy, though it takes quite a few cranks to go from the top to the bottom of the adjustment range, as others have mentioned; 4 possible positions for crank is a nice feature. Overall, I have no complaints, especially for the price range (I paid ~$140 with tax), though I can't comment on longevity/durability yet. Took off one star because it isn't a perfect design: the part tolerances are not amazing, so don't tighten everything completely until each section is fully assembled (they recommend this in the manual, too); also, the table top is some kind of composite board with a glued plastic band around it - this results in a crisp edge that is uncomfortable for your arms, and can be slightly jagged in places due to lack of a smooth finish process. Considering the affordable materials used, I think it looks reasonably nice. Mine also shipped without one part (that allows you to mount the crank to the front rather than just the sides), but the seller was quick to respond and I received the part within two weeks of the original order, so everything is now complete and works fine. ... show more
