  • It's great for vacuuming a window air conditioner
I like all sorts of attachments for my vacuum. I wasn't sure what I'd need it for when I got it. It was cheap so I bought it. The pieces are very small so it sat around for over a year before I used it but it's a small box so it doesn't take up much room. All the pieces fit back in the box when not in use. I have pets and cleaning the front of my window air conditioner can be a pain. You have to be careful when cleaning an A/C unit because you can bugger up the front and cause damage to it. I thought I'd give this a try and one of the small brushes with the hose really worked well for me without causing damage to my A/C. It doesn't have a tight seal in my Shark pet vacuum but my vacuum is powerful enough that it doesn't matter because I still have enough suction. Over all it was a good buy for me for what I use it for. I'm so glad I bought it. ... show more

  • a little more detail...
This kit is exactly what I was looking for. I bought two while they were on sale, one for the computer and in the house, one for the car. I'm a little surprised by the negative reviews, but what else is new. While it's not that difficult to figure out, the kit does arrive with no instructions. (Everything fits together only one way, however.) Here are a few points to help avoid confusion. First, the hose part is about 36" long, so just shy of 1 meter. The external diameter of the hose is only 0.6" / 15 mm, so there's little risk of vacuuming up stray socks. This may not be the right tool for extracting taco chip fragments from the depths of the sofa, either. The hose has one end with a black plastic piece already inserted. This is where the attachments plug in. The other end of the hose is unfinished. This end connects to the narrow end of the flow control, which is the large black knurled piece shown on the left in the photo. (Just push the hose over the ridged "barbs" on the flow control piece.) The flow control piece fits a standard 1.25" (35 mm) round US vacuum hose. The flow control piece is the 'female', so the 'male' vacuum hose fits into it. For vacuums with smaller hoses, there's an adapter (also round), the other large black piece, shown on the right in the photo. The adapter has a 1.25" end that fits into the flow control piece, and a stepped end that's a little over 30 mm outside diameter. at one end, and a little under 33 mm O.D. at the other. The inside diameter of the adapter is just over 27 mm. (Not sure what sizes millimeter-denominated vacuums come in.) There are two extension tubes, one straight, one angled. Both are about 5" / 12.5 cm long. There is also a crevice tool and two brushes. The crevice tool is 3.375" / 8.5 cm long, and under 0.45" / 12 mm by 0.2" / 5 mm at the tip.The smaller round brush is about 0.5" / 12.5 mm at the tip. The larger oval brush is just over 1.0" / 27 mm on its long axis. The extension tubes, the brushes, and the crevice tool all plug into the prefinished end of the hose. You can use one or both extension tubes in either order, or you skip them and just plug the other tools into the end of the hose. As noted in some reviews, the flow control piece does not shut down all the way. This seems to be a good thing to me, to avoid burning out the motor on your vacuum cleaner. I'd suggest also opening your vacuum's flow control as well -- most vacuum hoses have a ring or knob you can turn to let more air through. If you're not getting enough suction, I'd suggest putting some tape over one or more of the openings in the flow control. Pay attention to the pitch of your vacuum's motor -- if it goes way up, things are starting to overheat, and it's best to let more air through. All in all, this kit is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. It's a million times better than those little battery-powered computer vacs you see that have next to zero suction and inadequate means for disposing of anything that does get collected. Based on the negative reviews, some vacuums are a bit like the products of a certain fruit-themed electronics company which prides itself on non-standard connectors. A square connector? Seriously? As a salesman once told me, "you may find a better product, but you will never spend more money". ... show more

  • Micro Vacuum Attachment Kit - 7 Piece
Item is much smaller, than the picture makes it out. I was expecting something a little bit bigger. My concern with the unit is the adapter-that connects it to my vacume cleaner hose. Perhaps because of the size of the suction hose in the kit, the adapter that came with the kit has four (4) holes in the end of it. Apparently, to reduce the suction power through the hose in the kit. (The adapter hooks to my vacume cleaner hose, then the clear tubing hooks onto that adapter and then miniature attachments hook to the other end on the clear hose.). I do get some suction through the hose but not the really strong suction I was hoping for. I will try and seal off some of the open holes at the end of the adapter to increase the suction. It is still a good unit and well worth the cost of it. It will work great on cleaning the dust out of my computers. I was hoping to use it also for the small hard to get areas inside my car. (Between the cars seats and consol). If I can increase the suction some, it will work great there also. It may not be as big as I wanted but it will work. No regrets on buying it. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS if you purchased the Shark Rocket Corded Hand Vac (HV292)
I saw this kit in the "Frequently Bought Together" section. Before deciding to buy the Shark Rocket I looked at some video reviews. One review showed a kit like this that apparently came with the Rocket at that time. I guess you can't say that Amazon recommends this kit but "Frequently Bought Together" seemed like a safe bet. In the photo you'll see what looks like a toilet-paper tube with midriff bulge. That is the adapter between the Shark hose and the reducing adapter (the black object on the left side of the picture). This adapter does not fit in the Shark hose. Actually it kind of fits. It is hard to describe in words – the first half inch of the adapter fits into the shark hose but there is kind of a shoulder that prevents it from going in further. The half-inch section doesn't fit snuggly enough to hold the adapter tightly and form a seal. I used a utility knife and literally whittled the shoulder away and then used pipe-fitter sandpaper to sand the knife marks and create a tapered diameter that now does fit into the Shark hose. So it is usable. If you're willing to modify the adapter, then I would say the rest of the parts are decent quality and do the job. I'm not sure I'll use the little extensions but who knows. The designer of this kit should have put more thought into the adapter so that it would be more universal. I looked closer at the product description and it says, "Fits all vacuums that accept standard 1 1/4 inch; inside diameter attachments". I measured the inside diameter of the Shark Rocket hose and it is 1 3/16" – 1/16" inch smaller than 1 1/4. That's why the adapter is too loose. The first 1/2" of the adapter must be slightly smaller than 1 3/16". My whittling and sanding was what did the trick. To be fair, this kit isn't meant to work with the Shark Rocket. But the Amazon "Frequently Bought With" picture has fooled more people than just me. They should remove that picture. ... show more
