I was a bit nervous about ordering this bag after reading the reviews. I'm thrilled that I ignored them and bought it anyway. The leather is of great quality, especially considering the price point. It's very soft and unblemished. Despite many other reviews, it has no unpleasant odor at all. If I put it all the way up to my nose I can smell a soft leather smell, but it's very light and not foul at all. It has a good number of pockets and they're good sizes. The covered magnetic closure is a nice feature too. The overall bag is a little bit bigger than expected, but not a problem at all. The product arrived packed in a nice drawstring bag that was inside a plastic bag. Inside the cloth bag, another plastic bag! The handbag was well protected, with packing foam taped around every metal buckle. I packed paper inside to expand the handbag per directions, and the next day conditioned it with Renapur Leather Balm as the leather was stiff and a bit dry. The color before conditioning was darker than the pictures, and there was a scent that was a bit strong but quickly faded to a pleasant leathery, woodsy aroma. I’m 5’7” and the bag sits just below my waist when slung to the back; it’s very comfortable. It doesn’t shift around, and the front pocket is generously sized. The bag is not floppy at all; the leather seems to have been split and glued to a stiff green canvas backing. For this price I can live with that. The inner compartment is very roomy and the padded divider with a Velcro strap closure is a nice touch for carrying a table. The hardware seems to be reasonably sturdy. The strap is well made, with thin strips of leather sewn securely to a good quality webbing strap. I sewed tote bags for friends and the stitching looks really good and strong on the webbing, and overall. It can carry journals, books, a tablet, glasses case, phone, and the back has a zippered pocket for wallet, etc. It looks nice enough for every day, but could be part of a cosplay outfit or travel bag. ... show more

Love the pockets and size of the bag. The strap could be made of a softer material rather than a rough canvas. Stap is a good size for plus size girlies. I've had it for almost a month and there is still a smell to it, I don't think it's an awful odor like others have described tho. It is a pretty bag but it has problems. I should've expected that for $40. It came with wrinkles that I don't think even a heavy duty conditioner would rub out. The conditioner should help it's odor though. When they say compact or small they mean it. The 13" saddle bag has very little room inside. I like how adjustable the handle is and the color is beautiful. The quality's not great and it's VERY stiff. Again, $40. It's going back. ... show more

Though I read the reviews before buying this, this was my second attempt with this purse because it’s so cute. My husband got it for me a couple of years ago and we returned it immediately because of the smell. So I waited and thought I would try again as some reviews said that the smell wasn’t bad and that it went away. I was hoping there had been improvements. But after owning this purse again for a month, I have to send it back. The smell remained so strongly even after airing it out for days and using a leather conditioner to try to cover the smell. Today when I chewed a piece of gum that had been wrapped in it’s box in the purse and STILL tasted like the purse smells, I knew it was time to give up. Everyone can smell this purse when it’s in a room! The oil that is on the purse has stained papers held inside of the bag as well as other bags and items that the purse is near. I’m disappointed because it’s so cute and I love the size and style. But it’s not worth the smell. ... show more
