We have a six month old kitten and we can’t let her out untethered (murder mittens + leash + unexpected loud noise = massive blood loss and scars for me). Nor do we have a screened in porch. We have a larger carrier that we bought on Amazon and she really likes it; I can set it on a bench in our yard and she stares at the birds for hours. But we wanted something more of a playpen with room for a small litter box and water bowl. I researched dozens of them and went with this one (I got the XL because we wanted lots of room for her). I am SO PLEASED with this product; it is super lightweight, it literally just pops open and folds closed, the roof screen zippered on with ease (good quality zipper), and the “screen” netting is murder-mitten proof…she can’t destroy it; if anything, she gets a claw caught on it that she has to wriggle free. Initially she was intimidated by the space, so we put her carrier inside of this pen so she can hop in and she is so much more confident with the safety of her carrier accessible. Right now she’s quietly watching pigeons eating just ten feet away. We use it indoors too, since she is part chupacabra howler monkey and if not intensely supervised will destroy everything that’s not bolted down. Again, I am so glad I went with this product! Worth the money (it was fifty bucks I think, maybe less with a small coupon), hardy yet light, easy to clean, and SPACIOUS. Virtually NO assembly! It just unfolds. The cover zipper easily attaches. SUPER light! You can carry it fully opened, with your pinky, by the carry strap on the side. Super portable. I received this and was surprised at how small it is when folded and in the carrying case. It is made like a similar nylon, fold up dog hutch I had for my dog that he used for over ten years; but I plan to use this for a small cat when we are traveling in my RV. I bought the large (36x36) and there is plenty of room for a small bed, water, food, and a couple of toys. It is a simple set up. Just unfold and straighten. It is very light so I will put something in the bottom it to keep it tipping over in the wind. A rambunctious dog or cat can also cause it to collapse (as some viewers reported) but there are no wires or other hard items that will harm the pet. They will just be surprised. I set mine outside, on a screened porch, to air out and so my cat can get used to it. It does have a chemical smell. The zipper was easy once started but like any zipper it needs a straight line to get started. I ended up using a safety pin at the start point to hold it in place otherwise the zipper does not engage fully. Two people are probably better than one on the zipper. The product appears to be well made with a double handle zipper on the door. Like the dog hutch it rolls up and is held in place with Velcro. I didn't find any holes, tears or loose threads. I anticipate this will work very well for how I plan to use it. A lot will depend on the cat. I will try to remember to update my review six months from now after a couple of trips. UPDATE 25 Oct 2018: I have taken my cat on two RV trips with this play pen. The most recent trip was two months long. The playpen was extremely useful allowing my cat to sit outside in an area where he could not be allowed out. He felt safe in the pen and often voluntarily went into the playpen so that he could enjoy good weather. The pen folded up without having to remove the top and dried very quickly when it got wet. My cat was frustrated with the pen a couple of times but his claws did not shred the netting or the nylon. It did collapse on him once but it is so soft he just sat there until help arrived. I have revised my previous rating of a four to a five. A great product. ... show more

This cute little pop up playpen was pretty great for my doggies. We rent in an HOA and are not allowed to put up a fence but my dogs love sunbathing. It’s really sturdy, easy to set up and take down. I was even able to get it right back in the carrying case on the first try. This is an XL which I wish was a bit bigger so they had more space to walk around. Perfect size for sunbathing and laying around though. Alfred (white dog) rates it 3 stars, wants to know why he’s confined to an octagon Rocky (brown chiweenie) rates it 5 stars, he’s just happy to be here ... show more

UPDATE: One year later, this is still one of the best things I've ever bought for my dog. My poodle still sleeps and naps in this playpen (we put a dog bed in it). I leave the door and top open permanently because she is fine wandering the house when we are not home, but at nap and nighttime, it's where we always find her. I only just recently used it for travel. It fit perfectly into my husband's check-in bag, and when we got to the airbnb and popped it open, it was her instant home away from home - a familiar space within an entirely new and strange one. It was the best thing to have for her. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is such a great little playpen for my pup. She willingly goes right in and seems happy when she's in there. I can see that it will be a great thing to have for traveling with her. (it is, see UPDATE above) It's super easy to fold and unfold. It's a safe environment for my dog, with the added bonus that she likes it. It's easy to pick up and move from room to room so a little puppy can safely be wherever we are in the house. The bag that comes with it makes storage and toting easy. The top zips open and closed or it can be completely off. The door rolls open and stays open with Velcro tabs. It fits a dog bed with plenty of room for toys and to walk around (dependent on having bought the appropriate size for the dog, of course) It's easy to see the pup no matter where she is. I have the small one and it's perfect for my toy poodle puppy and it will also work when she is full-sized (which is still pretty small as dogs go) Couldn't be happier with this. ... show more
