  • Very sturdy
Pattern Name: N
I wish the handle didn't have finger grooves. I have large hands and the finger grooves don't fit me and with them on one side it can be a bit uncomfortable in my hand.

  • Solid product for the price.
Pattern Name: N
Has served me well for every other day typical abuse doing general electrical/landscape lighting type work. I typically use it to chisel stonework in walls to install certain landscape lights like path lights or shallow channels for running cords and shallow trenching lines through rocky terrain where most other tools are too bulky for the job and haven't had any issues with the tip/shaft breaking yet like others have shown with similar rock hammers. I have recently noticed the grip started shifting off the shaft but a couple of whacks put it back in place so not a big deal and if it becomes an issue again it's easy enough to remedy with some adhesive. I'll most likely upgrade to a heavier version next time but I'm a 6' 200lb guy and feel like I need a bit more weight for extra force in my line of work but I think the size and weight of this one will suit most buyers needs. Overall it's a great rock hammer for the price and the grip is at a typical comfort level for the cost, if you have delicate hands and plan on using it on a consistent basis I'd suggest something pricier which provides a more comfortable grip since this one has the standard no frills convenience store style grip you should expect at this price point. ... show more

  • Very nice.

I ended up not using this on my rock hounding trip as I thought I would. It is, however, a fearsome piece of equipment. It looks and feels quality. When I do have to use it I feel confident it will stand up to the job

  • Beautiful and functional -- but could be even better
Pattern Name: N
I am using this to fit stones in a lakeside seawall I am slowly building. (Like Winston Churchill - I am an amateur) The hammer looks gorgeous - but be careful, it will rust very quickly.. Unlike its wooden-handled predecessor, it will not break and fling its head into the lake. But compared with the wooden one, it will transmit far more reflected energy back into your bones. The rubber handle helps a little. The pointy pick is occasionally very persuasive, when you are coaxing a rock to change its shape. Alas, it claims to be heavy -- but perhaps they are weighing the handle as well(?) because it is too light-headed to satisfy me. To break granite, I have to swing it very hard and fast. I'd rather invest more energy into lifting it. Then on the downstroke, I'd let the hammer do the brute work while I focus on landing it in the right spot. ... show more
