The price is good. It is workable for occasional use, but it is not a professional tool. If you plan to do a lot of crimping spend the money to get a better tool. The crimping function is adequate but it does not trim the excess wire very well at all, I had to use small cutters to do it manually. In the end I was able to do the job with a bit of fussing. ... show more

Great tool. Blade cut right through the 23 awg with ease and the result was a clean connector. Easy to use. Just remember when using outdoor rated CAT6; get the correct connector. Locks when not in use and perfect fit.

This is the perfect crimper for ri45’s. Has a cheat sheet for those who don’t have it memorized and for the money it works perfectly. Takes minimal effort to crimp and is fast and reliable. Good buy. Have done over 500 terminations and it’s still sharp and like new

    • Really good little RJ45 crimper tool - and cuts the passthrough end nicely
Having switched to passthrough RJ45 connectors for Ethernet wiring jobs around the house I always had trouble trimming the ends - could never do a good job with a pair of scissors or a knife and the little RJ45 plug would never fit nicely and keep falling out. I have resorted to using rubber bands and tape to keep those little Ethernet plugs in!! After almost cutting my finger off trying to trim the ends the other day with the sharpest knife I could find, I thought there has to be a better way. So I looked on eBay and Amazon and saw that they did make inexpensive crimper tools that crimp the ends AND cut the wires sticking out of the RJ45 passthrough connector. I didn't want to wait 6-10 weeks for the eBay one to arrive, so saw a similar one and a similar price on Amazon. It arrived in 2 days. Crimper tool looks well made and very sturdy. More importantly when I used it the first time I had tears of joy! The end of my RJ45 passthrough wires were neatly cut !!! And I didn't have to risk losing a finger or stabbing my hand any more. I'm very pleased with it - wish I'd bought this thing years ago. Happy + would recommend! ... show more

This tool is solidly built and overall well-designed--except for one troubling flaw. The blade that cuts wires is almost exactly 1mm too long and the tool is not designed for any sort of adjustment. Fortunately, I have access to a belt sander that's optimum for knife blades and tooling. I was able to make an imperfect but functional adjustment. It was tricky and sanding left me with a somewhat angled edge. In fact I almost took off too much on one side. It was difficult to hold securely with the molded plastic blade mount (the black part with the small machine screw). Anyway, the tool works flawlessly for crimping the pass-through RJ45 heads and now it doesn't cut so far into the plastic stop or "nose" of the connectors. I should mention that I'm using the Klein VDV826-703 RJ45 passthrough connectors, also purchased from Amazon. I did try the tool on some other RJ45 heads (unknown mfr.) and had very similar results before deciding to try modifying the tool. The blade photo was taken after sanding it down (sorry I didn't get a 'before' shot). It's obvious that I couldn't keep the edge straight but it's still very sharp and effective. It helped that the tool's price was reasonable that it wasn't a concern if my effort failed completely. Without the flaw, I'd have considered this a very good deal. Everything else about this tool is of adequate precision and build quality. It's hard to fathom how or why they let such a critical component go so far out of spec. IMHO, a clear QC issue that not many folks are going to be able to resolve on their own. ... show more
